A lot of people who doesn't really understand Japanese see the word "senpai" as a crush or love interest and only yandere use it, but "senpai" actually means as an "upperclassmen" which means they're a grade upper than us so we use the word "senpai" so it seems polite in Japanese so it's not a "crush" thing. Not all people see this but the majority of people misunderstood the meaning of it, so please don't get offended.
