In retrospect, looking back at John Cena vs. AJ Style was already gonna be expected as a known classic. The man who was the face of WWE and the man who was the face of TNA. That was a dream match that a lot didn't think would be fulfilled until AJ Styles made his debut.

Im so happy you mentioned the Takeovers. They were the perfect appetizer to the main shows and what made it more special was that not only were they almost always better than the big show following it, but there were only 4 or 5 a year.

Brooklyn really really really loved their Summerslam during this time. Feel like they could've done 1 year in the time frame not in Brooklyn but I'm not complaining considering if the Summerslam sucked or didn't seem interesting there was always NXT Takeover Brooklyn

AJ Styles v John Cena is probably my favorite SummerSlam match of all time. Both wrestlers mean so much to me. Cena was one of my childhood favorites and his US open challenge got me back into WWE after I hadn’t watched in years. On the other hand, AJ Styles’ work over in NJPW led me down a rabbit hole of other amazing pro wrestling companies and broadened my view on the industry. The match didn’t disappoint one bit and it’s one that I continue to go back to from time to time.

I went to all of these events live (born in Brooklyn and lucky enough to be able to afford tickets) and they were so awesome man. As a young kid these were some of my first live wrestling events and as this video goes on I can still remember each and every match live. Biggest crowd reactions were definitely Seth walking out in that white attire and the unveiling of the universal title.

Summerslam 2017 main event was an absolute Banger It easily could've been the match of the year Unfortunately in the same year we had Cena vs Styles at Rumble TBH it was a bit better but summerslam fatal four was an awesome match too (just a bit too predictable since lesnar said he'll leave wwe if he looses😵‍💫)

I remeber every SummerSlam from the Brookyln era (2015-2018) and this was during my early to mid teen years.

It really hurts when you hear that Sami, KO, Edge, Balor, Rollins won't have a match at this SummerSlam this is the time when WWE can really have like 8-10 matches for the show they literally have couple of great storylines running, big title matches, returns this SummerSlam has so much potential man.

Yeah I’m excited for this years Summerslam, but the thought of it having too many matches might hurt the quality a bit since besides Wrestlemania, the PLEs have been more focused more on quality over quantity in the past year. I’m curious to see what the official match card for Summerslam is gonna be in the next couple of weeks

@@daredevil95178 They're not leaving Rollins off. They want to keep pushing that World Title. Sami and K.O are stuck with the tag titles, and unfortunately, nobody other than The Usos is really worthy of a Summerslam tag match.

Quick note: WWE had a live show in May of 2016 at MSG. The main event was AJ Styles vs John Cena. The Summerslam match was the SAME exact thing step by step. The top rope AA beat AJ at the live show but he kicked out at Summerslam.

I was there for three years at SummerSlam from 2016, 2017 and 2018. At the time I was hyped as a WWE fan my whole life since growing up but SummerSlam 2016 was my first live event and it's my second time at Barclays Center. Reason being I graduated college and my graduation ceremony took place there July 2013, 10 years this year. Now 2016 was the most exciting time ever indeed. 2017 I'll never forget I enjoyed the overwhelming main event that made my jaw dropped. 2018, the final SummerSlam held in Brooklyn was something a fan could want more but steadfastly it was rough. My take is those three years I've been at watching SummerSlam the storylines would've gotten more interesting with the superstars and make it execute perfectly that make the audience dropped their jaws and endless chants of "this is awesome 👏👏👏👏) Had they've brought back in Brooklyn every summer I pay my money's worth. What memories man.

2016 AJ was such a beast.

I was so excited about Undertaker and Brock Lesnar going one on one at SummerSlam 2015, but i hated the way that match ended. Lesnar should’ve lost at WM31, Taker should’ve lost at SummerSlam ‘15, & Lesnar should’ve won clean at Hell in a Cell ‘15.

Although the entire 2000s catalog of SummerSlam, aka the green S logo era, and the LA years, will always be my favorite time for SummerSlam (2000-2014), the Brooklyn era truly did have some special matches and moments. Whether that be Taker Vs Brock of 2015, the entirety of 2016, the Fatal 4 Way of 2017, AJ Styles Vs Samoa Joe, the birth of “The Man” Becky Lynch, and Roman historically ending the worst title reign of all time back in 2018, and many more. It truly was a unique and fun time, and I hope that everyone who went to these events, truly remember the memories for life.❤️ Nice video, bro.👍

I went to all of those shows and it was pretty fun. I do remember the nxt takeovers the night before were better for the first 2 years at least.

Boy did I take this for granted. 2015 had meet & greets for HBK & Sting on Friday, the first NXT Takeover on Saturday, Summerslam Sunday, Then Monday Night Raw where the Dudley’s came out 😢

One thing is certain, Seth has done so much for WWE throughout the last decade. Especially when the company was in trouble like 2017-2018. Monday Night Rollins gimmick gave some fresh air to WWE Fans especially Monday Night Raw. It is a shame that people still criticize him for no good reason.

AJ Styles Vs John Cena was one of the best matches ever. I personally liked this match more than royal rumble 2017 one because it had an unpredictability factor. The best SummerSlam match of the Brooklyn years easy.

As someone who went to all four then the post raws, it was a really fun time. Favorite match was definitely summerslam 2016 where Aj styles finally beat John Cena clean.

My match of 2015 was Sasha Banks VS Bayley. By far match of that year. Also Royal Rumble 2015 3 way WWE Championship was my favorite too.

Not the best era of summerslams, but the shows were enjoyable. My favorite summerslam from that era is 2016. Aj styles vs Cena is still the best summerslam match since Brock vs cm punk in 2013. Finn vs Seth is great and Charlotte vs Sasha banks is very good.

Also now looking back on this, they could’ve easily revived the OG World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam ‘16 instead of giving us that awful Universal Championship.

The Brooklyn era of SummerSlam (2015-2018) gave us some awesome matches and my personal favorites were Cena Vs AJ from SummerSlam 2016 & the Universal Championship Fatal 4 Way Match at SummerSlam 2017 P.S: do you plan on doing the same for the SummerSlam events that took place in Los Angeles (2009-2014) cause I'd love to see that video too

Far from being the best period of SummerSlam. I personnally think the last true great SummerSlam is the one from 2013. And I highly doubt SummerSlam 2023 will be that great. That's just me.
