If you see a bloom, stay out of the water and keep your pets and livestock out of the water. You cannot tell if a bloom is harmful by looking at it, so it is best to use caution and stay away. As a beach lover Boracay is so fine! Live this place. First vid I've seen at low tide...yes crazy algae. Anyone know what causes that?

Not sure exactly what causes algae to grow but it's something that always happen during March to May. Algae grows from the ocean near the island, then eventually gets washed ashore.. ending up on the shorelines of the island. This phenomenon was already a thing even before Boracay became a tourist destination.

It is cause by human and agriculture waste and endemic on summers months when water is calm and sun is hot

What is station 1-2 & 3? What does that mean and is one station better then the other?

The White Beach is divided into 3 stations. I cant say one is better than the other because it just really depends on one’s preference. Station 2 is the busiest because it’s where the D’Mall and most bars are located. Station 1 is the quiter part with more luxurious/high end hotels. Station 3 is laid back, less tourists than station 2 and with affordable hotels to stay in

Station 1 has more portion with less algae. Station 2 has the worst

Not really sure. But don’t worry, these algae will be gone by June so you wont see them when you come in December

The Algae is not harmful. It’s just a nasty slimey in the water and ruins the looks of the beach. I had no idea about this and I’m going there last week in May. Very disappointed if that’s what it will look like when I go. Was looking forward to a beautiful white beach, not a green slime beach. I would have waited if I knew, but as you know you can’t cancel your plane ticket here for no reason. I’m just going to enjoy no matter what.
