Summer Time Rendering is INCREDIBLE
Фильм және анимация
Summer Time Rendering does it all. Intelligent mystery, horror like the Higurashi series, and well-earned romance. In this episode of Anime in Retrospect, I talk about why Summer Time Rendering quickly rose to become one of my top anime of 2022 and the incredible, layered mystique - the kind famously lacking in the anime medium - it skillfully achieves.

Hi, I just watched the anime Summer Time Rendering and found your channel from it. I really love your work and though your repertoire isn't large your quality makes up for it and then some. Great work, can't wait to watch your future videos!

Thank you! These are my favorite types of comments. I love discussion about the anime too, but these comments are the special ones that motivate me. I’m grateful.
"Welcome back." - "I'm finally home." ~ These are the 5 most gutwrenchingly joyous words I've ever heard. I don't know if an anime will ever spark that exact feeling in me ever again.

Same ❤ I love this anime but it’s end there is no season 2 😖 however can this anime’s manga be continued. If this happened then there would surely be a season 2 😀. What do you think 🤔

I loved that last è episode and how they wrapped up both characters remembering little by little, I had the same reaction for inception ending
I still believe the side characters are well written and strong characters as they have nice personal stories and motives that come up as the story moves on. Sou is a person who values life and wants to fight saving those lives that the shadows wish to kill Toki hides her true intentions and feelings believing there is no one to lean on, only to realize that even she needs to help someone show her a different perspective that she can be blind to. (Forgetting his name rn) but the old man with a sniper rifle gets his moment of closure after he lives for so long fighting the very monsters that took his family away. The cop probably was the biggest loose end, as he is a gag character that shines a little. I kind of felt like there was enough to say they were fleshed out characters, but they are side characters in the end
This anime is pretty underrated imo. I loved and i think it handled the time travel premise better than any other anime. It was short but executed in a way where every moment had me hooked.
I disagree on the following footsteps, this anime literally made its own country, its own mountains and paths. Literally shot up to my number 1 favourite anime, the mix of genres from mystery romance and action all executed beautifully is something you don't see with anime. Simple characters perhaps, but that's what makes it easier and in the ending due to all the time loops you do feel connected with them, relieved that everything is okay, well and a happy ending. No anime has ever made me feel like looping or thinking so hard. Overall such a damn good anime and I personally think it is the King, no "observer" of all time loop animes.

@@Mr-kn6gg Sadly no however it's probably best because it may ruin the show seen as though there is nothing else to go on, the whole problem was fixed with basically no loose ends. Trust me (idk if u watch marvel but) u don't want it to end up like the new marvel films where the plot is nothing and stupid.
I decided to watch this anime when ep 19 came out because I watched a gigguk clip where he said that it didn't fall off. Binged the whole 18 episodes in 2 days and then suffered from anxiety each week. Anxiety about what will happen next, will they survive or not, how did this character die, will they come back or not. It was an amazing rollercoaster of emotions that I loved from the first gunshot up untill the last firework went off. I even showed this to my friend who watches only romance and hates mystery because they feel flat sometimes. After the first episode he said "this actually might be really good". He felt anxious about the same things and after the last episodes he simply said that it was beautiful. This moment was really enjoyable for me as the one who suggested it and it shows how someone who doesn't like the genre loved the series.

I can definitely understand where your friend was coming from. Mystery usually isn't done too nicely in anime, but you definitely picked one of the better examples to recommend to him!

especially compared to erased, steins gate, rezero, madoka magica, tokyo revengers, this to me stands above them all and I used to rate steins;gate very high the first season at least but this just goes even above that IMHO and I had steins at a 8.5/10 so needless to say

Dark is thrilling, although I haven’t watched past the “which world” reveal.
An amazing Anime one of the bests I like the style the colors the scenery, again I do not understand why people pay for Disney plus at all.
This anime reminds me of Rezero but it’s still incredibly good!

Exactly! And it's full of mystery just like Re: Zero! Tbh this genre is just amazing although still think Re: Zero is better due to better character development but it do got like way more episodes. None the less this was a hood classic fr
I knew I would be into this show as early as the end of episode 1. Great show and great video!

WOW, it isn’t a competition! JK 😎
Quality content from a quality guy.
Yes
This series is, by far, one of the best anime I have ever seen.
This is one of those animes that I caught as soon as it came out, quite on accident, and could not, for the life of me, shut the fuck up about it to my friends lol I was glued to every episode from start to finish and it's easily one of the best I've ever watched.... And then they fucking dubbed it. And I got a new feeling... the feeling of having a favorite anime ruined by a dub 🤣
Yeah new video!!!
WOOOOO NEW VIDEO HYPE!
If you like this show, I recently found a great time travel (audio) book series called "The Perfect Run." The MC, Ryan, is basically Subaru with a bit of Deadpool mixed in. Great character development and world building with a solid plot that is more straight forward than most time loop stories.
Judging as this is the third anime I’ve ever watched. ( watched heavenly delusion first then undead unluck) I am a sucker for mysteries and this sort of stuff and like my father when he watches the rodeo I was yelling at the tv for the main characters to kill that SOB. So I rather quite enjoyed it : - D
i hope you're doing Good! i came across your channel and watched all your videos. Love your reviews and thoughts on anime. i hope you make more videos soon, take care.

Yeah! Like Re:Zero, but the suffering is shared between everyone lol.
I'm not much of a fan of time travel shows. I've seen Steins G, ReZero and enjoyed both, but of course Steins more because I'm old🤣... tried to get into Tokyo Revengers but... So I was waiting to see some of these analysis vid to get an idea of the show besides just "it's beautiful". So I'm paying close attention to this to help decide if I will give the show a try. ✌️

I'll be honest, I don't like Tokyo Revengers either. Lol
I feel out of the loop on this one. I liked it, but I feel the show could've been better if it trimmed down a lot of the fat with different elements overcomplicating the plot. And focused more on fleshing out the main cast, and especially Shide. And I think they could've maintained the thriller aspect better, but overall, I really enjoyed the show.
@AnimeInRetrospect

I feel that those elements are a double edged sword. They just keep piling up which makes the show feel suffocating at times, but seeing all the ways they interact with each other eventually makes for really cool and inventive combat scenarios. And yeah, Shide is definitely disappointing as the big bad. Really don’t like how he ended being a replacement antagonist like in Naruto, although he genuinely grew on me a little bit.
@northshore2826

@Anime in Retrospect that's fair, but I do think this lack of characterization some what diminished the value of the combat scenarios. And i think should've allocated time to let these characters grow.

Shinpei and Ushio remember what happened to some extent, if not completely. They have a moment where it clicks in the final scene.
People be disrespecting classroom of the elite like shit. Only if people read light novel of classroom of the elite. There is so much detail in light novel of COTE that summertime rendering doesn't come close. The Anime adaptation of COTE just makes Ayanokouji edgy. It fails to show how much of a complex character he is.
you are wrong on rezero, subaru at no point wished to only save emilia. he never wanted anyone to die on him and he always saved them all (so far)
Eh. Re zero isnt really focused on saving emilia. Its focused on saving Everyone. Subaru was an emilia simp sure. But most of the loops have nothing to do with her. The first time subaru looped intentionally was to save Rem for example. Shinpeis loops tend to be the same, where he will loop to save everyone (Mostly Mio) much like subaru (Rem in his case).
Nice vid, heck yeah!
Summertime Rendering was excellent. You might be able to tell my other big favourite....
