The Emotional Power of Violet Evergarden

Фильм және анимация

The first time I watched it, Violet Evergarden made me cry, and it did again when I rewatched it for the purpose of this retrospective - and love letter. Let's talk about why. In this episode of Anime in Retrospect, I dive deep into what makes Violet Evergarden, through grief and bonds, one of the most definitive emotional masterpieces that anime has to offer.

Violet Evergarden, to this day, is one of the most beautiful and amazing anime i've ever watched. Its one of those shows that have changed me as a person for the better. Thank you for making this great video and for reminding me why I love KyoAni and this anime so much.

binged all of this in one sitting and man it was a ride of emotions. The one that got me was the one about the stage writer and when Violet jump over the pond for the writer and he had the flashbacks fuck it hit me rough

Might be the single most powerful moment in the TV anime. There are a couple of scenes right up there with it for me, but nothing beats the impact the pond scene has on a first time watch.

Violet Evergarden is one of the few works I can truly say has changed my life. No other work has allowed me to experience so potently the tragic beauty and mystery of love and grief. I can honestly say that I walked away from the series with a new appreciation of life, of the power so many of our interactions and relationships have, and I changed how I think and act in the world for the better. Like Gilbert to Violet, it will always remain a part of me.

I loved this anime so much. The story within every episode kept me engaged without fail, which can sometimes be difficult for slower paced shows. In the original series I wasn’t sure Gilbert was ever coming back - I was waiting for Violet to be heartbroken finding out he was gone for good. I couldn’t believe my eyes in the movie when they actually found him. I would have loved to see a little snippet into them finally being together but honestly I can just be happy with the fact that they ended up together in general. Great overview of the series!

"Violet Evergarden is an anime about considerably more than just making the viewer cry." You're right, but OOF do it make me cry

Thank you for the amazing video you did a wonderful job with this I will admit I blanked out on most of the main story points as I have not yet watched Violet Evergarden before this and wanted to keep the few bits I haven't already been spoiled on to enjoy when I watch You very eloquently explained the deeper meanings and symbolism hidden in plain sight and perfectly conveyed the why some of these needed to be as such to build the story and knit it together You also did a brilliant job praising Kyoto Animation, you are 107% right as well, even in the aftermath of such a terrible tragedy they still managed to produce such a visually stunning and heart wrenching piece of anime history I was thinking about not watching this until I had watched the anime but I'm glad I didn't, I want to watch it even more now and I have a much better understanding of the story as a whole Thank you for your hard work, This is amazingly well made and your script is incredible Don't worry about the upload schedule as long as your doing what you enjoy Keep up the great work I hope there wasn't too much trouble with the copyright stuff and I hope it got sorted out well I hope you had a nice Christmas/holiday time and a happy new year too Have a great rest of your week, Be safe and Take care out there wherever you are (^=W=^)

Thank _you._ Comments like this are why I love making these videos. Really glad to hear it makes you more excited to watch the anime than before, because this video is primarily intended for those who have watched it already, so to have this unexpected effect means a lot. Happy New Year!
