I would say drive your plow is more appropriate for colder seasons! Lots of cold winter descriptions❄️

I'm so glad you mentioned Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead.. I never see anyone mention it and it is the PEAK weird girl book! I saw someone else saw to wait til winter bc of the setting which I agree somewhat but also want you to experience it right away!!

I absolutely loved Drive Your Plow Over The Bones of the Dead, but I agree with the other commenters- this is definitely a winter read!! I'd say post-holiday, deep cold vibes. If you want a weird girl substitute (and one that's waaaay freakier), Perfume by Patrick Suskind is creepy and definitely meant for summer.

I hope you love My Brilliant Friend- such a great summer read and the first book in a series, so you have even more to enjoy if you love it! Drive Your Plow over the Bones of the Dead is also amazing. I've never read another book quite like it ❤

I read the first three books of The Neapolitan Quartet. The first book I thought was okay, there were certain elements that I never understood such as why Lenu has to refer to Lina as Lila, I have a theory on why that is since Lenu has the letter 'l' in her name and by replacing the 'n' with 'l' in Lina's name it signifies their lasting bond. Another one I failed to understand when they were going up to Don Achille's flat to retrieve their dolls why Lenu mentioned when they held hands something between them changed, what was that change? Maybe because they were children at that time, but then we are told all this when she is in her 50s or 60s...my favourite book has to be the second book. I read the first half of the second book in a week, then the second half in two days and I was in a weird trance for several days, but I was also scared for my own health, so I couldn't pick up the third book for several months. Then I finally read the third book and I was rather quite disappointed, I think that disappointment, in part, came from personal circumstances, but also I felt the story did not advance. So it's been roughly 10 months since I read the third book, and I am planning to read the final book in the series as a way of celebration for my moving to Larry the Cat's town. And because I want to know how Lila's son succumbed to Naples' violence, especially since Lila seemed to want him to use his brain to escape Naples' roughness, despite her unorthodox methods. Finally, I have a theory that Lenu and Lila would have been lovers had they grown in a fairer era, there were hints such as when Lenu first saw Lila naked near Lila's wedding to Stefano. I've always wanted to talk to someone about The Neapolitan Quartet, but I am a closed person.
