I appreciate Ariel’s concern for the welfare of the fish. It’s so admirable that you guys farm, catch and hunt for your own meat for food but maintain a sense of responsibility for being humane.

love how Bandit is absolutely loving his day -- what a legend!

The sound of the boat hitting the waves brought back memories of fishing with my grandfather when I was a child. I would laugh so much I couldn’t breathe. I think he got as much of a kick out of my laughter as I did bouncing around.

Opening montage is chef's kiss; stunningly beautiful ... visual, sound, music, aerial, slow-mo, closeups.. what's not to love!? As a NorCal trout fisher (brook to trophy lake) every fish you tossed back hurt my soul, lol! Trout are a difficult catch, finicky feeders, so many rules, and strict limits. When you finally land one and have to throw back due to size, it's painful to part with them. When they are of size and in limit, we almost always keep ... cuz it may be the last (or only!) one you catch not just for the day, but for your outing or even an entire season. Thank you for an afternoon on the water; envious!

Is the size the reason why they put the fishes back to the river? For me the Pikes seem big. I'm a little consternd when I see this. Here in Germany 'catch an release' (for Fun) is vorbidden because of the injuries of the fishmouth. But of course too little fishes can be released.

@@dragonflyshomeandgarden1605 yes; trout have very delicate mouths and hooking them when they're young and/or small to begin with often destroys the jaw and ability to feed properly. When we fish in streams, the hooks are tiny and barbless ... less to tear them up with. On lakes with trophy they are 20+ inches. Many lakes now have a toss-back of anything shorter than 18" and streams, less than 8". The California Fish/Game department rules change every year; are different for different areas, even by stream/river. Confusing as heck! The pike they're Eric and Arielle are pulling out are a much more resilient fish with an actual 'bite.' They're invasive, non-native pretty much everywhere in North America/USA, and they EAT TROUT! So I'm all for bagging as many as possible to get them outta the ecosystem ... Have done lots of things in Germany, but never had a chance to go fishing there!!

The cinematography was absolutely stunning in this video. You folks seem so relaxed and laid back in this video. I am glad you got to go out on the lake for fishing.

That creek ride back out with the sparkling raindrops to a double rainbow….breathtaking! Loved the underwater shot too. Always a real treat to see your vids, and I’m glad you noted why you were tossing the pike back, since they are invasive salmon-killers in most places up here. What a fun fishing trip! We have only seen a double rainbow once before in Alaska and it wasn't as complete. It was about 5 years ago, very special treat 🙂

Always love your fishing trips brings back many fond memories of fishing at my grandparents cabin and yes for pike. You both deserve a nice day on the lake after all the work getting the garden done which is awesome and can't wait too see how it grew. Fresh pickerel filets baked in the oven is a culinary treat. I found the fresh filets in a Calgary Costco shop last week. They are only available seasonally, when the licensed commercial fishers can easily net them in our Canadian lakes (by and large First Nation fishers, who finds it a good business these days). How did I oven bake the 12" long by 3/4" thick filets? At 440F for 12 minutes. Before baking them, I coated them with bread crumbs - the sticky batter made from a mixture of vegetable oil, cream, flour and egg - with the spices of salt, pepper, thyme, garlic powder and curry powder. It was super delicious - said my dear wife for the last 50 years.

This video was awesome and it brought back memories of the time my family would take a week off and go camping in northern Michigan close to Roscommon with my parents, brother, sister and me. I was knee high then, when we fish for pike when we were camping at a state forest camp ground we went to the boat launch and fish for small perch then went back near our camper and fished offshore using the perch as bait. When fishing like that it takes hours two hook a Pike.

That was a fun pike fishing expedition. You guys caught some HUGE ones. That was cool 😄
