Long and healthy life

Before boarding a train almost a decade ago, I picked up the "Being Different" book at the book store on the platform. The contents of the book had a profound impact on my thinking because it reintroduced me to things I took for granted (or looked down at) in our culture. It helped me understand I was made to think in a certain way towards our own culture through education that was primarily following the model of western universalism and how we were made to look and perceive our culture through the lens of the westerner. This book introduced me to Shri Rajiv Malhotra and his other work and since then it has changed my life completely. These books were the foundation and gave me the framework in my journey to intellectual decolonization. Thank you so much Rajiv ji 🙏

I am not Indian (except for possibly 6.25% genes) but have been a student of Sanskrit since my teens, and I have great respect for all that Rajiv Ji has accomplished. At 70 yo I am glad to have lived in a time when the decolonisation of India has become a growing possibility. The colonised Indian minds are the major remaining problems. I have no political agenda but I stand up for truth, for honest critical evaluation, for intellectual honesty.

Yes, because of Quota system in India meritorious students cannot get admission in India’s premier institutions. They come to the US and shine and earn respect to India. The BJP is the only party in exception. A tea seller has risen to be the current Prime Minister. A poor tribal woman has become the President within seventy five years of Independence. In the US it took over 144 years after Independence for women to vote. Women in the US received the right to vote only in 1920!

He is intelligent, proud of Indian culture but has many facets to his character. He hosted Donald Trump in New Jersey before 2016 election, he sucks up to many right wing organisations which leans towards his ideology. Hinduism has survived for thousands of years, there is no need to be sensitive to criticism. Abrahamic religions are a belief system , Christianity has adopted to modern times and changing world, the fact that we have a Hindu prime minister in the predominantly Christian UK is a credit to Christianity. Hinduism is very flexible and accommodating religion without the politicians trying to dictate . Hinduism needs to adopt to the changing world and stop boasting that Hindu culture is superior to others.
