In these Sultans Of Swing Guitar Lesson Videos we will take on the epic classic rock masterpiece by Dire Straits.
Sultans Of Swing Guitar Lessons Videos will show you how Mark Knopfler treats every line in every verse to a little finger-style lead guitar magic making it quite a nice study in his soloing style.
Every single note will be broken down for you slowly in these videos, so take your time and try and memorize each verse section before going on to the next.
Eventually, after getting all the parts down your ear will tell you whats coming up next because you should be very familiar with every inch of the tune.
The Sultans Of Swing Guitar Lessons Vidoes are 7 video lessons in all including a full performance video, and in them I will break down the entire track slowly and note-for-note. Good luck!! :D

When I started about 10days ago I was tempted to say it was impossible for me and found myself numerous times shouting into the screen " WOW - HOLD ON ! " as you have quite a demanding way of teaching ! . Now , having nailed it and enjoying putting the polish on I have much gratitude towards you . I am sorry that I cannot send any money as I am unemployed and poor as a church mouse but I just wish to say a huge THANK YOU , you are an excellent teacher and a brilliant guitarist .

Well I finally got there ... this is the old guy (75 yrs) from Yorkshire England ... who says they can't teach old dogs new tricks - they can when they have an excellent video teacher like you ... I can now play the whole song through - I have only to learn to sing it and play it at the same time now .... thank you for doing such a good job ... Bruce.

I always considered sultans an impossible song to learn since I started 12 years ago but until a few weeks ago your videos and your simple, detailed lessons taught me to fully get the song down. Can't thank you enough for taking your time to teach everyone freely like this. Your page is always my go to now. Mainly because of the way you teach. 🤘

I am 66, trying to upgrade from a 3 chord strummer to learn some leads and licks while I still can. This is by far the most ambitious song I have tried to learn, but your lesson(s) are so detailed and concise, with a little patience, I have learned all the individual pieces, now I need to pull them all together... thanks so much for this!

I’m learning this song because I really like doing karaoke on cruise ships, but I’ve become much more self conscious in my adult life, and I think I’d rather go with something that doesn’t require a lot of singing ability. That said, there’s a couple of guitar breaks in here and i have a habit of picking songs with solos, so I’m figuring out the solos so I can play along instead of just stand there. I like performing, I’m just not in the right profession to do so. And this is my way of getting to do a party trick once every couple years. This completed my learning of the song, and I greatly appreciate it

Carl, first THANK YOU for doing what you do! You have single handedly provided to me what it takes to learn and play any instrument let alone the guitar and that is interest and fun! If I may make a suggestion? At the beginning of each "tutorial" it would be awesome AND help tremendously if you would play first what you are going to teach. Some times you do this but most times you don't: it helps, me anyway, to hear it played to speed then I can mentally reference your tutorial to what you had just played. Does that make sense? Anyway, I cannot imagine that I would be the only one to find this helpful. Buddy, keep doing what you are doing, PLEASE-lol you're one helluva guitarist and one helluva an instructor-thank you!!

Brilliant set of tutorials for this song, the best one of the web even eight years later! thank you! As a contribution - near the end of the fast bluesy run described at 4.55 the video says there are two pull offs on the D string 12 to 10 - If you listen carefully I think it's one pull off as described and then a pluck on the 10th fret and hammer on the 12th. It's slightly loose because of the speed but I think that's what MK is trying to play and it sounds much more melodic played like that...

+JustForFunMan dunno if you've figured it out yet but what i found to help was bar my index over the 1oth fret on the high strings hammer on with the pinky on the highest string to 13 and then use my middle finger to hold down the 11th fret on 2nd string and then just slide your hand up to frets to 12 on the 1st string and 13th fret on the 2nd string
