Sulfuric Acid Stripping Cell - First Run

Ойын-сауық

Just the first run of the stripping cell.
This is not a "how-to" video. Acid is dangerous, if you burn your face off attempting to duplicate it's on you.

It's a very fine copper basket you've made there nicely done 4:46

Do you have a video showing how to build that and what materials you used?

I'm assuming the white milky looking precipitant on the right is Lead is that correct, or is it something else? 4:11 I ask because I've have seen something similar from AP processing of pcbs and I assumed it was possibly that (solder) but unable to figure out how I was going to confirm that as I simply have no chemistry background to fall back on and at 54 no teachers to ask

It would be nice you explain what you are actually doing there, what material is the anode and cathode and what are you going to strip?

One more stupid question if you don't mind... This is room temperature sulfuric acid dissolving gold rather than the base metal it's plated onto is that correct because it was my understanding that that's not possible or is it just because the layer of gold is so thin that you're able to do that as if it was just dissolving the base metal rather than the gold the gold would still be gold and not black and I'm a little confused by that

It's not dissolving, the black you see in the acid is finely divided gold. It's basically reverse electroplating. Because the gold won't plate to the lead and just stays in suspension and is collected later.

Very good vid !!! Next time try more volts and less spase between led and copper mesh it will speed up proses! !!!

And or add some extra heat which you can do by just carefully adding some water 😅

What is this for? A Copper Basket on the left with "anything" inside and perhaps a lead Cathode/Anode? Extracting Gold?

If you cut one of the legs on the table a little bit shorter and place a cat with a bad flea infestation at the other end you won't have to keep shaking that basket 😂 5:42
