Electrolysis: Silver Crystal Harvested from an Electrolytic Silver Cell.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Chemistry offers us so many wonderful experiments! One of my favorites is operating my electrolytic silver cell. Growing crystals out of extremely pure silver. This Ag is purer than .99999 fine, and looks incredible! Snow white, chunky, and full of amazing crystal shapes.
Visit the Lithic shop and grab a new t-shirt, they look fantastic! Shipping is free!

I can't quite tell from the vid but what are you using for a salt bridge ? ie; how are the two solutions connected ? I have about 150 grams or so of Analar grade Silver Nitrate and I want to reduce it down and try and flog it off to a jeweler maybe, I'm thinking using the electrolysis method will make it look prettier than just reducing it using another metal...also, better control over the voltage and current and temperature will result in much bigger crystals I think, a lot slower, but, maybe worth it...any ideas on that ?

After you drop the silver from the used electrolyte and are left with copper nitrate, could you run copper shot through the cell to get .99999 copper crystals? As a novelty of course, copper isn’t worth enough for that to be profitable.

How strong is the nitric acid that you use 67-70%? And do you wear a gas mask😷 while making your silver nitrate? Or do you just do it in a well ventilated area? Trying this myself and the advice is greatly appreciated...I definitely don't want to end up dead... I've already bought the supplies but I am just waiting on the nitric acid... I bought 67%... 🤞

There are many people out there that choose to store their wealth in precious metals. We call ourselves stackers. We keep a good supply of gold and silver on hand as a hedge against fiat currency, or the dollar. We keep the metals in different denominations and different forms if you will. There are 1000 ounce bars to 1 gram bars or rounds. The smaller bars or rounds are called fractionals. In my opinion, pure crystal elemental silver, such as these amazing Lithic crystals, make the best fractional silver for stackers and people holding silver as a hedge against inflation. You can carry a kilo of it and split it into any needed weight with a cheap 10 dollar scale. Or you can carry a few 10 gram vials of it if you prefer. The options are limitless.
