Y’all chill😭 we are still extremely new to anime and had no idea this was a different style. We never want to take away from the animators that spend countless hours creating these incredible shows we all love. Now we know that this is just a different art style, and just like all art, some people like some forms better than others. Regardless this was a phenomenal episode🫶🏽

The animation is a style. It’s a shadow-less style animation. It takes away shadowing and detailing to add to fluidity and movement. It might not be your cup of tea, but it’s a style and that doesn’t mean the animation was lacking or they used “less budget” on this. Toji's mind had been twisted. His basic urges told him simply to go after the strongest. But when he regained control for a moment and thought about his son, he was filled with joy to know that Gojo kept his promise. Megumi wasn't a Zenin. He hadn't been sold off. And thus, to both protect his son if he lost control again and relief that his last wish before his death had been fulfilled, Toji took his own life. What a phenomenal character. Now, onto the main event. Sukuna vs JoGOAT. A lot of people were surprised at how Jogo speed blitzed Maki, Nanami and Noabito. But he's powerful. Had he gone up against a 2 or 3 finger Sukuna, he would've wiped the floor with him. He's about as strong as 8 or 9 fingers of Sukuna's power. But unfortunately, he fought Sukuna at 15 fingers. Nearly double the amount of power in fingers than the estimate "Geto" told him he was capable of. But even then, even Sukuna admits that some of Jogo's attacks would've still done damage if they had hit. Had it been against a 10 or 11 finger Sukuna, he would've struggled but he might've actually been able to land a hit. It wasn't that Jogo was weak, he just had the misfortune of facing the strongest sorcerer and the king of curses at nearly full power. Stand proud, Jogo. You're strong. Being complimented by the King Of Curses doesn't come easy. Now, Hanami, Dagon and Jogo have all moved on. Until they one day are born again. They have entrusted everything to Mahito.

Brosquito's, I totally get what you're saying with the "lower budget thing". I would've thought so too, but on a previous job my company contracted some animators and I learned a lot about animation styles. Don't feel discouraged by the comments, just learn about the animation styles (CGI use, hand-drawn, shadows, all that stuff), you'll start figuring out how to engage on that side of things differently. I do wish Mappa would give their series' an extra year between seasons so their teams would have more time to work on things, and their animators could be in a happier state of mind by having real time off to see their families. The industry is so demanding with all these mangaka's having health issues and stuff, it needs to have some kind of unionization or standards for health.

He or They has/have a few videos from a few years back already since the channel is no longer continued, but maaan they are super informative about what is possible in movies/series/animation and why some things just feel BETTER or higher quality than others to the viewer. If you're interested in that kind of stuff maybe you can check it out for yourself or when the boys are interested in it as well maybe show it to them? I just know after discovering that channel I never watched anything with the same eyes again and was able to appreciate real good camera directing and animation on the spot when I saw it for the first time. Some recommendations would be "Satoshi Kon - Editing Space & Time" and "Jackie Chan - How to do Action Comedy". Obviously every other video on that channel is goated as well, they are all short 3-8 minute videos. Hopefully I could show you something you are interested in.

I won‘t comment on the animation since that has been mentioned a billion times already. I wanna just say how much I liked the philosophical deep talk Sukuna had with Jogo for a moment there. Makes me love Sukuna even more, I was prepared for him to be a heartless cruel (but hot) motherfucker and now we get to more insight on his mentality and stuff. Also I love that for Jogo, all he wanted was to be recognized and seen and the King of all curses gave him that. Also the way Megumi managed to keep up with Toji’s speed was amazing I can’t wait to see his full potential and the way Toji managed to kill himself for his son’s sake was also beautiful. Fuck this whole episode was amazing and beautiful.

(In which case, the strongest was Chainsaw Man) Seriously, off-model faces with pretty much standard, at times, wonky animated movement compared to intentionally fluid motion displayed from the debris, effects and character expression? There's no justification here. Sure, maybe the scene with Kusakabe and Panda could've used more stronger character drawings, but the end result is still solid and definitely isn't comparable to Hell's Paradise. But Sukuna vs Jogo and Toji vs Megumi has much more sakuga value than Hell's Paradise entire season, as much as I love the story, the production value and animation overall is bog standard, good at times, but more often, inconsistent.

Though I wish he would have talked to him some more. Then boom Shigemo comes out of nowhere and slashes our boy. I knew the bastard was still alive. Kusakabe has got to be the most realistic and relatable character. It was cool to see him interact with Geto’s “Family” who I definitely wanna see more of as well. That battle between Sukuna and Jogo was nothing short of nuts! Not sure if this was the actual “Incident” but I think melting and blowing up the city would constitute as one. Kinda had me feel for Jogo at the end though, but it was his misfortune to go against such monsters. Though him being recognized as strong was cool and hearing how Mahito can get stronger was interesting. Sukuna just crashes anything he wants even if it’s a meeting in the afterlife 😆 He’s really at the top of the food chain and I really want to know more about his abilities and what he said to Jogo. Apparently he seems to know the bowl cut person, who’s finally been named. Don’t know what the hell that curse was at the end, but Shigemo can get bodied for all I care. I hope our Jujutsu High people are alright and I need the next episode to get here already!

Don't worry, even I, a Japanese, felt uncomfortable with the animation.🤣 Of course the animators are wonderful. It doesn't change the fact that we all love this animation in common.💗 I am looking forward to the next video! (I used the translate function, so sorry if my English is bad)

Well, I'm with you guys on this one. You shouldn't have to apologize if your first impression was that the quality felt worse. I've been watching anime for about 15 years, I've watched a good hundred shows, among which are shows like Naruto Shippuuden which kept switching artstyle left and right, sometimes literally on a weekly basis. So I know this kind of "sacrifice art for animation" style, and while it's appropriate to appreciate the effort that went into those episodes, and as a standalone episode, it surely contained a lot of animation feats, saying that it felt off compared to the rest of the show shouldn't get you cancelled in the comments lol. There were so many off-model shots, character outlines changing and overall artstyle that felt distracting even with great animation happening. I disliked it with Naruto and I dislike it here. I think consistency is better, and you can be consistent AND have great animation, after all we don't need to look too far for an example, which were the first Gojo episodes of this season.

About the whole animation conversation, I think you guys were just unlucky for not knowing about the issue yet (especially the jokes about the budget at jogo and sukuna part, yikes, not good at all guys), and bad timing because there were directors of other episodes who were degrading their own work and sounding very stressed out (like they're having a breakdown), and literally asked to be left alone when that ep was aired. Besides I don't get anyone that say this ep is bad either, like, the cinematography is so good? Compositioning and timing and the dynamic in the animation movement? As an art student, *chef kiss*. I think Miso's (this ep's director) style enhanced the author's energy well, might even be better if they were given even just a bit more time with their team

10:56 That's Uraume they were first shown in Season 1 episode 21 and they were shown again at the beginning of Episode 10 of this season. Gege hasn't confirmed Uraume's gender but they're presumed to be a female by most of the community.

Ngl I usually love your guys' takes but the animation wasn't a downgrade. It was made moreso so the fights look as smooth and fluid as they are. If you watched Mob Psycho for example, it utilizes it throughout that entire series. If it was detailed like last season, then the fights wouldn't be as wide scaled while also looking as smooth as it does.

Not a knock on these guys but anyone criticizing the animation here have no idea what theyre talking about. You can have an opinion on whether you like the DRAWINGS of this ep. Idk about downgrade... But it was something like simplifying the design so the fight could come out more fluid But at the same time.. apparently Mappa has some shit going on with this season jjk release where the freelance animators/ directors are complaining about the bad management, time frame, resources provided, etc. Some crazy shit about having to sign nda to not publicly complain. Nd also apologizing for episodes this season being poor quality bcus they didnt get enough time. Saying to praise the individual artists for producing under this bad environment as opposed to giving Mappa the credit

Yall are so annoying. Why should they have to apologize if they thought the animation looked bad? Everyones allowed to have an opinion and make criticisms. Thats what makes art, art. In their opinion it looked worse and its as simple that. Do you want to them to lie and say it looks good if they genuinely dont believe so? Plus theyre not necessarily wrong, the motion itself was good but the character designs were definitely lacking and hardly defined. Obviously I dont blame the animators cuz theyre short on time so I get it, but lets not act like its not there.
