Sugon-A9 Solder Station - Is this JBC clone worth your money ?

Ғылым және технология

After a lot of abuse my trusty TS100 stopped working and I can't see the display, It could have been something I did when I changed the case last year. As much as I love the TS100 I thought it was time to get an actual station and after looking at a few videos I decided on the Sugon-A9 from ali express
www.aliexpress.com/item/10050...
It has a few options for the type of tips it can take 210 or 245 and I chose the 245 style. You can also select a few tips, but I would recommend just one and then but genuine JBC from a local dealer. You can also buy another handle for the other types of tips if needed.
After a few months use I am happy to recommend this soldering station for anyone, beginner to experienced, the range of JBC tips covers just about any job you could imagine.
I do have a Patreon if you would like to help and support some of the longer projects I am working on.

I own 7 of these that I’ve had for about a month. I’m always looking for low priced work horse soldering irons. Having a micro soldering repair business that’s gradually expanding I trying to keep my equipment budget within reason. I often have to look for budget quality and I firmly believe I can do any repair with any iron as long as the tip style meets the type of repairs needed. I’ve come across some great knockoffs of popular brands, of which I’ve replaced with more reliable brand name irons. Some were hits a few were misses but I learned a lot and have done a lot of A-B comparisons. Although still functional, the knockoff hits have been all replaced and stored in my graveyard of soldering equipment. All of my techs love these A9s over the the Weller 1010s, Hakko 936s, Hakko 888s and the Yihua 8786ds that I had previously supplied them with. I bought original jbc 210 tips and so far smooth sailing. I’ll check back here in a year and give my real assessment but for the money they are a great value.

I was happy with the ts100 for a long time, but then the case broke and it was never the same since. Also finding original tips could sometimes be difficult and it didn't like any of the clones the temp would bounce up and down. Now I am happy I can buy from a UK JBC dealer and know they are original and have a lot of choice.

What do you think about the AiXun T420D dual iron station? 200W dual channel with a real toroidal transformer has got me looking at it hard. I’d be upgrading from a T18 Hakko clone and I want to leap-frog all this T12 stuff with one machine that can do everything from cellphone repair to my DIY EVSE (talk about THERMAL MASS!).

@@jstro-hobbytech calibration could be wrong if you are going through tips too fast. try recalibrating and also use a much lower temperature. station might be saying 320 C but it's actually 350C. you could ask them how to recalibrate or just use a much much lower temp than you think you need. if the solder melts then that is plenty high enough.

@KLD I fix it believe it or not. It's better than my 400 dollar sugon. Man. I have a ps5 that needs a hdmi swap but I don't want to pay for a microscope as I've been repairing stuff for a while and this is the first time I've needed it. I'm trying to find someone trustworthy to send it to have fixed and sell as I have a new one. The 15 pins keep bridging and I can't get enough light in there to see it properly. Last time I tried to fix it I could see the home screen and my lgc9 recognized the ps5 but then I unplugged and re plugged the hdmi cable and joint must've just been pressure connected becsuse it stopped recognizing it. I've taken it apart and removed the port and there's no torn pads or anything. I'd like to find a tech to go splits on shipping with me and fix it in ten minutes then sell it wherever they live and split the money. It we go splits on shipping that establishes trust right

I need to solder heavy gauge wires as well as your average little 10ohm resistors etc. is there a station that can cover both tasks? Or do I just need to grab a cheap-ish 80-100w soldering iron with chisel tips and a little 30+ watt precision iron? My eyes hurt from searching online for so long lol so any help would be greatly appreciated!
