2020. From Wisconsin, this is exactly what I needed. So many videos were propagating half or just the top of a succulent. I was just moving one from the pot I purchased it in, it broke a leaf and I needed to know how to not make waste of it. It took me a week of hanging on to one leaf to find out just what to do. Thank you so much miss. I've just started my indoor exploration of plants and this video is a huge help. What a wonderful video, again, thank you.

Your succies are amazing. You are adorable and fun to watch. I lived in San Antonio for a brief time in the military originating from San Diego, California And the weather freaked me out and seemed extreme. I’ve been back in San Diego for a long time and just got into succulents because I bought a Graptopetalum Superbum by chance a few years ago that grew into a beast and had so much plant that I pursued propagation to use all the pieces when I replanted. Thank you for the videos :)

Hi! So my Lola’s are translucent at the baby making end on the leaves I picked off to propagate. Now the plant is healthy and happy but the leaves are weird looking. Not to mention 5-7 days after picking of the main plant poof they go clear, not rotting but clear and shriveled. What do you is wrong because I learned the watering schedule of the Lola’s (2 plants actually doing the same thing) and I nearly lost one of the plants due to over watering but got to it before it went to rot. So I can’t figure it out. Oh and my von nurnberg’s.....I get roots and then they turn black! They are imby no means near sunlight it’s far away indirect sunlight so the roots can’t possibly be burning. But drying up and going skinny and black.

Hi Sky! That's awesome! My dogs liked to sleep on my propagation trays too. :/ Maybe because they were in a great sunny spot by the window... what do you think you were doing wrong? Sucs For You! I think we messed up watering them, or we picked leaves that were already to far gone, because we never even saw roots. And I guess a nursery is a bit of an overstatement, I just wanted to simplify it lol. I really want to just own a little shop with succulents (and other plants) and different kinds of pots for them and other decorations as well. Where I live we have a small square that has a lot of small antique stores and I'd love to do that but with plants. A coffee shop is another good idea though! I love coffee lol.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Your videos are super. I have a few succulents and cactus myself and I am in the early stages of how to care for them. In the very beginning, I was either over watering them because I was watering them along with my flowers or would forget about them. When they dried-out that is when I noticed that they did well. Again, thank you..I like that live in the same area as I do. Keep those videos coming and if you have any flowers, share those too.

Hey Christina! I'm glad you're finding the vids helpful ;) And yes- I'm glad we're in the same area too because it can be quite a challenge to keep succulents in Houston and similar climates... I want people to know they're going to have to try a bit harder than others but it is possible and it's very rewarding

So you don't immediately put the leaf in the ground? I just got my first Echeveria and it unfortunately got a little dinged up on the way home and lost about 9 of the larger leaves. I'll try following your video to try and save the leaves/grow new ones. My poor plant is basically half naked.

They all have different temperature hardiness- you'll want to figure out your garden zone and use Dave's Garden or a similar site to see who likes what ;) For example, sempervivum are very cold hardy and really do better in your climate than mine - they hate heat/humidity and that's all I've got!

In English) This happens to me too sometimes. One has made only roots for 4-5 months...I'm still waiting to see what happens ahaha! Make sure you don't see any pests and just try propagating more leaves from different kinds of succulents so you're not so worried about those that don't make new plants :)

I use my own too here in florida we get tons of rain, excessive heat and humidity. I use 50% succulent and cacti soil, 40% perlite and 10% coco loco potting mix. She makes her own which is great too! I just have to do things a little different here because of the crazy climates all year long. Hope that helps!

Hi! If the stems are too weak, it's probably from a lack of wind...are you growing indoors? Try to strengthen them with an electric fan or put them outside if possible.

Yes! Do it now!! Especially if they're in plastic...You can pull them out of the soil and leave them for a week before worrying about repotting :) Either dump the dirt and wait for it to dry, or go ahead with some new dirt and reuse the old once it's dry again.

some of the roots of my propagated leaves turned black. Is this caused by too much sun as its on the window sill? Are they salvageable? The new succulent growths are still rather small but they look fine. I didn't have them initially in soil but after i noticed the black roots i put them on a soil bed in hopes they could grow new roots somehow. Any suggestions?

I am just spraying water daily on those leaves that are sprouting new baby plants and I have a few that I'm thinking of transferring to small pots. Will watering the soil cause rot or should I continue spraying? Thanks!

  • @SucsForYou

Try to keep the leaves dry and target the roots with a little water. Also keep out of direct sunlight after watering (wet leaves + bright light....water magnifies the heat and it will burn the leaves!). Let the soil dry out between waterings so the plant is encouraged to send out more roots. Keep an eye out for a demo of various watering methods :D

Hi Josie! Houston has milder winters but it can still snow and freeze here. This video was made in February so it was probably between 50-65ºF (10-18c). If it is going to stay lower than 45F for more than a few days, I'll try to bring my more sensitive plants inside. I also have a grow light on my porch to help keep things warmer :)
