How do you succeed in your auto detailing business? Why do most detailers burn out and fail? The answer is actually pretty simple.. they are doing what most people tell them to do: hand out flyers, business cards, try to post on social media, etc... What's the problem? What builds real success in an auto detailing business is not how many flyers you hand out, it's building the correct online systems that will create a real foundation for your professional auto detailing business to stand on.
In year 1 of your auto detailing business detailers get excited because they see growth. The problem is, this growth is not indicative of long term auto detailing business success... it's just that you are moving from 0 to 1. You had no auto detailing business, no auto detailing customers, no auto detailing reputation, and now you have something. This initial growth tricks a lot of auto detailers into thinking that they have something special, when in fact, their auto detailing business "growth" starts to plateau and fall in the very first year.
Auto detailers become dependent on word of mouth advertising and referrals both of which they do not have control over, and therefore can do nothing to build! This is the auto detailing year 1 business trap. The problem is, you don't realize that your auto detailing business is in a trap until it is too late. The auto detailers who make it to year 2 spend time in year 1 building reliable systems online that they can grow over time to bring in more customers. These are things like a website, social media, and local listings. This is what will drive the auto detailing business success engine long term... but most detailers are so busy detailing all day in their first year that they miss this entirely.
Finally in year three, the professional auto detailer has options. They have cash flow, a steady income, enough savings to create cushion for the business, and they can experiment with the hot and shiny things that every detailer thinks they want. Should I get employees? Should I buy a van? Should I get a stationary location? If you are beginning in the auto detailing business, or you are struggling... follow along here.

Great video, just one point I like to mention. You don't actually start at zero, unless you somehow got all your equipment for free. Realistically you're starting at negative $300 - $1000.00 plus and have to make that back before you're at zero.

He means yearly profit based on what you’re making on a weekly average. Not overall profit, which you are right and would start at negative

    1. Take advantage of Digital Marketing, 2. Create a product, eg: soap, a degreaser, an ebook, etc., or a video course on how to become a professional detailer. In a nutshell, stuff that can be sold without needing your presence, or sold on autopilot, so you can a get a recurrent income. 😉

Hey man, thanks for the content. New to your videos, but am definitely finding them informative. Funny how a lot of these "Start a Successful Business" or "Become a Successful Entrepreneur" videos from actual people who have real world experience in that specific industry get very few views. I appreciate you providing the insight. Subbed, keep at it man!

I want to install ceramic coatings but I don't have a shop , I can only fit sedans and mid sized SUV's into my garage and on a daily basis it's 100°F where I live, some days it gets up to 116°F

3-5 customers in the first few weeks is unrealistic. not sure how is it going in usa but in uk ppl are not that interested in their cars they would rather spend on booze and pubs. Plus as a mobile detailer rain is the biggest enemy and it rains 80% of the time. I started recently and 1-3 customers per week is more realistic. Reaching 25k it's like having the average salary, for now if I reach 1k per month I'm more than happy but to reach that it takes somewhere around 5 cars per day on a normal wash in&out.

How much your chemicals cost per detail + how much insurance costs you + gas, then take how much money you wanna make in a year and divide by 8,160. So let’s say $75,000 a year, divided by 8,160 working hours in a year (15 days off), 9.19 dollars per hour. Obviously your numbers will change but the formula remains.
