How to perform a rinseless wash on your car!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

How to perform a rinseless wash on your car! In this video, I team up with special guest Nick Rutter from McKee’s 37 to show you a simple rinseless wash method for you to keep your car clean.
A rinseless wash is a car washing technique that allows you to wash your car in a way that doesn’t require rinsing afterwards. Perfect for condo or apartment dwellers, people who live in cities with water restrictions/bans, or those who are simply more conscious of the environment.

    Hi Pan. Here is a question for you. When you wipe the sponge on the vehicle and then rinse it off not all particulates are heavy enough to sink to the bottom. Things like oil and other liquid contaminant’s even salt dilute into the solution. So essentially every time you put the sponge back into the bucket you put some of that back onto the vehicle. What am I missing here?

    I love the flexibility that a rinseless wash provides. I normally use a 2 bucket wash method, but I add an ounce of rinseless to both my wash and rinse bucket to help soften the water, increase the lubrication and release dirt from my wash mitts. I've used them as a quick detailer between washes for bird droppings and bugs, an interior cleaner, a clay and wet-sanding lubricant, a pre-treatment, to increase the effectiveness of a steamer, and even clean my garage floor with a microfiber mop. I keep a 4 oz bottle along with some microfiber towels in my car all the time. I have 4 rinseless washes that I keep and use all the time including McKee's 37 N-914, ONR v5, P&S Absolute, and DIY Detail Rinseless. They are all fantastic and each has their own strengths.

    Big fan of N914. As a Texas resident, it's my favorite weekly wash method in the summer as I don't even have to back my truck out of the garage. Does a nice job and I don't get cooked in the relentless sun. I do the multiple plush microfiber towel method. No chance of having something stick to a sponge/mitt and grinding it into the clearcoat.

    Glad to see you brought up the multiple plush microfibers in your rinsless wash bucket as opposed to the sponge. I do this as well. No rubbing against the grit guard to clean and risk debris remaining in the sponge, use the microfiber for a panel or two, and move to a new towel. I find this the best method but to reach their own. I know I'll get flamed for this but yes, I do use my foam canon as a preclean and then pressure rinse that before I move to the no rinse wash. Just my method. I'm kinda ocd. Happy rinsless washes!

    I'm still using ONR#4 because I sat on it for awhile until I realized how awesome rinseless washes were. I maintain my daily driver throughout the week and can have it done in about 15 minutes! I go back and forth between the Ultra Black Sponge or Edgeless 350s depending on if I want to keep my bucket free of debris or if I don't want to worry about laundry. Honestly though, I love my Worx Hyrdroshot for knocking down high soils before contacting the paint with the wash media.

    Agreed! Those crevices are not capturing as much dirt, dust and fine grit particles as one expects. That is clearly seen by the *dark, dirty sponge surface on multiple wipes.* Open the cracks, and you see that almost no dirt is inside. Instead, the sponge is simply smearing those fine dirt and dust particles across the body panels with each successive wipe, which potentially causes scratches, un. When I use a water-less wash product, I prefer to use Larry Koscilla's method (AMMO NYC) with multiple microfiber towels.

    Great video Pan! You and Nick tout the simplicity of mix for the sprayer by dunking it in the 5 gallon bucket of solution already mixed. Nick does this, and then added more N-914 to the sprayer. Obviously, this results in a different solution than the bucket. No mention was made about what the dilution ratio was that he was trying to achieve for the sprayer.

  • @PanTheOrganizer

    @PanTheOrganizer

    Жыл бұрын

    In this video, there seems to have been a little over 4 gallons of water in the bucket. As you can tell, the 5 gallon bucket is almost full. Nick mentioned that you need 4 capfuls of N-914 to equal 1 oz of product. And he only added 4 capfuls in the bucket, meaning he only added 1 oz of product in the bucket. And you need 2 oz of product for 4 gallons of water. So the 4 capfuls he added in the bucket weren't enough to reach the 1:256 dilution, hence why he likely added a bit more inside the pump sprayer afterwards. That's my understanding. Perhaps Nick can clarify if he reads your post. Watch my full rinseless wash tutorial for a more detailed overlook of the process, including dilutions: kzread.info/dash/bejne/omlsu5eqgseZf7g.html

    Conversely to the benefits of using rinseless instead of the 2 bucket method, I actually like to use N-914 in my rinse bucket to help break up the dirt on my microfiber wash mitt. I just feel like it's that extra amount of keeping the paint safe during a 2 bucket wash, especially since N-914 is so cheap.

    Rinseless washes are a great alternative wash method for those who live in areas with heavy water restrictions/bans, or are apartment/condo dwellers that have limited or no access to water. But if the vehicle is super dirty, use common sense, you should pre-rinse it first before doing the rinseless wash. A rinseless wash doesn't mean you never rinse, it just means no rinsing is needed at the end of the wash process. Here's a test you could do or maybe make a video on ( would love the latter ) on whether rinseless is safe. Polish a paintwork preferably black and then get before shots, get it dirty and rinseless wash it. Finally show the after shots and then conclusions. You could add steps to the process showing how that affects the paint, like pre-treat, giving a 50-50. Would love to see you make a video on this.❤

    I love rinseless. With winter here in Illinois it's been my exclusive wash method at the moment. So far I've used a sponge with ONR and DIY with fantastic results. Everyone has their own wash method but when I saw the sponge being pressed against the paint with audible squeaking noises at 8:00 I cringed. I'd never use that much pressure for my vehicles...but to each their own!

    I would never recommend washing a car in direct sunlight or high heat. Always wash in the shade or a garage, on cool surfaces. Ideally you want to be as close to 68-70F as possible. Avoid washing at noon when the sun is at its brightest and hottest. Either very early in the morning or as late as possible in the afternoon. And if you want zero water spots, use demineralized, deionized, distilled or reverse osmosis water. See my video on car wash tips in direct sunlight: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dpmWy65_cqaupZs.html

    No, because the bucket most likely has some contamination in it even though the rinseless solution is supposed to pull all the dirt down to the bottom. I personally wouldn't gamble on it and you should add 1-2 liters less every time you fill up a bucket and dilute it.

    This is another one of your great presentations that have motivated me to switch to rinseless washing with the McKees N914. The video raises 2 questions. Why did Nick add another “dash“ of N914 to the sprayer after filling it from the bucket? Also, he uses all four sides of the sponge when washing the car. With there being no laser cuts around the perimeter, does that not defeat, the purpose of the sponge’s design?

You see I do my car cleaning in my garage most of the time if not all the time. A rinse less wash will leave water stains on my garage floor tile which really bugs me. I bothers me seeing dry water stains on the floor and it typically leave an out line of the car from the drips....and if you clean the wheels I am sure you will get water stains around the tires as well. This is why I don't really do rinse less wash any more...I might as well pull out all the gears (water hose and compressor etc). At the end of it I will spray the floor to give it a good rinse. Sure more work but I have a clean car and a clean garage floor too. Just sharing my opinion. But I do get it rinse less wash makes sense for some conditions.

    Never purchase any extra that the dealerships try to sell you. They sell cheap garbage for high profits. Tell them to just wash the car, and do nothing to the paint. Either you do the detailing yourself, or bring it to a professional detailer for a true detailing. A new car is never new until it's properly detailed. - at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example. - vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc - vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements - at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches - at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat. If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well. I explain all of this in this popular video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/g5uj29R8XZipfcY.html So you can better visualize the new car prep process, here are the steps I perform on a brand new car from two of my customers: Tesla Model Y: kzread.info/dash/bejne/maOczdVxqLObfrw.html Porsche 911 Carrera: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZJefy8uvkqnXo5c.html Audi Q7: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmt8paSMhtHPqrA.html BMW M6 Gran Coupe: kzread.info/dash/bejne/YqB3m9eye7vZaLQ.html BMW M340i: kzread.info/dash/bejne/l6iMyqyHkamWdag.html Audi RS3: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aGhlz6ODlq6qfLA.html Golf R: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nKZlm8ltgLqwo84.html

    my area has seen at least half an inch of heavy rain in the last week and half. whenever I pull into my garage, my car is always covered with rain water.(obviously...) after watching one of Pan's videos recently, I started using my leaf blower to blow the car dry after I wash it and it has worked very well. I also started using the leaf blower to blow away the rain water on my car. just wondering if that's a good idea? since it rains every single day, I don't wash the car... but I also don't want to have it sit in the garage all night covered in rain water.... thanks! :)

  • @PanTheOrganizer

    There's no need to blow the rain water off, but it's not bad if you do. I have a dehumidifer in my garage (plus I have a heatpump too), which quickly helps remove any moisture in the air if there's any excess. Perhaps you can get one for your garage.

    Yeah I have both a split system heat pump (for heating and cooling year round) and an additional portable 70 pint dehumidifier. My garage is always at a steady 68F and 40-45% humidity. A well controlled environment is the best for detailing. See all the cool details of my custom garage in my full tour video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qaxqqrZ7cd3LiKw.html

I would like suggestions as to how I should start out to buy products to basically wash my car on occasion add some form of protection and enhanced gloss and the maintain it, I don’t particularly want to start sticking up in film canons etc but I’m thinking rindless easy and the add some sort of protection every so many months. What are you thoughts, any suggestions? Geoff

    Is it normal to feel grabby when washing at the bottom part of the car as it is more dirty?... I use p&s rinseless and I feel it doesn't really encapsulate the dirt at the bottom part and I still feel grabby even after I have pre rinsed it... It's definitely not as slick at soap and I had very high expectations on rinseless wash

  • @PanTheOrganizer

    @PanTheOrganizer

    If the vehicle is super dirty, you would pre-rinse with a pressure washer first. Common sense is needed with a rinseless wash as there are limitations. Rinseless wash doesn't mean you never rinse, it just means you don't need to rinse at the end of the wash process.

  • @Paul-sd8vk

    Having scratched the crap out of my car before with rinseless wash, it would have been nice if Pan examined for scratching before and after. The presenter wiped a dirty sponge multiple times over the paint. Looks great from a distance, whatabout up close. Also why doesn’t Pan use rinseless wash method?

  • @PanTheOrganizer

    @PanTheOrganizer

    Жыл бұрын

    I have access to water in my garage, and the traditional wash method has always worked for me. So I see no need to change. The rinseless wash is a good alternative for those with no access to water, those living in cities with water bans/restrictions, apartment/condo dwellers, or those who simply want to save on water. If done properly and with common sense it works well, but that doesn’t mean it’s for everyone. Also, if the vehicle is super dirty, pre-rinse it before the rinseless wash. Many people swear by this method, and if you read the comments, those who do the technique well like it. If you have access to water and a hose or pressure washer, just use the traditional wash method.
