    👉 When I go to wrap this do you think I should use ALL vinyl or should I do a carpet/vinyl combo? Thanks for watching dudes! I appreciate you guys! 😊

    All vinyl! Quick question, how do you know what size to make the gaps?

  • @CarAudioFabrication

    @CarAudioFabrication

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@dtorb6657 A good way is to use a caliper a sandwich the material and see how thick it is. Generally speaking vinyl is around 1/32" and carpet around 3/32". If doing a vinyl-vinyl gap add the two layers for 1/16", or if doing vinyl-carpet you would be 4/32 (which is 1/8")

    Hey Mark, I love your installs and the accompanying videos. I was wondering if and when you are going to use some wood veneers or maybe some carbon fiber inlays. I’m also a fan of home audio and the use of exotic materials. You definitely have to vision, talent and skill to incorporate these materials and would really bring it to the audiophile finish that your clearly are capable of creating.

    Another great vid I can’t imagine what you could do if you have a CNC machine and laser CNC machine using corle draw or autocad software to transfer it to the machines Your outcome is almost a precision work as same as CNC Trust me it’s pricy but will save a lot of time and save a lot of materials and you will have a more flexibility for new ideas

    I have a CNC machine. When laying out stuff like this it's honestly faster to do it the way I do. I don't need to cut one, see if I like it, cut another etc. I can come up with stuff pretty quick. CNC would make more sense if I wanted to do 100 of this same design.

    That is a beautiful box Mark. I an currently building a 4 cube downfire sealed wedge for my 2 HCCA 124's. I really want to do something different with it. I was thinking about cutting a design into the front of it and sealing it with plexiglass. I was thinking I could glue 2 1\4 sheets of plexi together and cover the cutouts. I want to put some lights inside the box so that the light will shine thru the cutouts. Would it be possible to do this and keep the box airtight? Is there a certain type of glue that I might use that would be better? I have learned so much watching your vids Mark, and I want to thank you for all your help.

  • @pocket5s1

    @pocket5s1

    Just note that while you may be able to hear some differences between the speakers, in no way can you actually tell how the speaker itself sounds. Think about it, you are listening to a recording of a speaker, through another speaker (headphones or otherwise).

  • @CarAudioFabrication

    @CarAudioFabrication

    5 жыл бұрын

    You are not going to hear how any speaker sounds in your car... Until it's in your car. Even speakers on a demo board are going to sound different than in vehicle. The point is you can compare the sound. A warmer sounding speaker is likely going to sound warmer once in vehicle in comparsion.

  • @pocket5s1

    @pocket5s1

    5 жыл бұрын

    That is partially true. My point though was that you can’t evaluate a speaker by listening to a recording of it through a different speaker. You may be able to hear some relative differences between two, but the tonality of them is going to be way off because you are actually listening to a 3rd speaker (headphones in this case). That’s like saying I can tell the handling of a Lamborghini vs a Ferrari because I’m driving both of them in a video game :)

  • @crutchfield

    @crutchfield

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@pocket5s1 While it's not going to give you the same experience as listening to the speakers live (or even better in your car or home) we do take into account the 3rd speaker (headphones). When you use the system you select the headphones you are listening on. Our engineers have profiled the specific characteristics of lots of headphones. What we hope to be able to show is the relative differences in the speakers, and not a 100% reproduction of the sound quality. If you decide to give a try we'd love to hear feedback on what you thought.

    Hmm not to point out the obvious but its not possible to show how a speaker sounds, 3rd hand over thr internet. From mic recording speaker, file being uploading and being compressed, and then replayed over whatever device the end user has.. Also, are they just going off the speakers graph, then adjusting eq points of the song to accentuate certain portions for the speaker and raising low nodes... Hmmm
