    A nice build overall. The shelve that flips down to a table was cool.

    Nice. I'm still designing my 1995 4WD Suburban makeover. Was thinking about a rooftop solar panel but that portable one in your video looks pretty cool. If I go that route, I may add a Starlink antenna to the roof so I can have WiFi no matter where I go.

    Definitely gonna do, at least, a cell booster. Don’t know if I want to shell out for Starlink yet. Maybe on my camper or travel trailer.

    I have the biggest Thule cargo box you can buy on the roof of my Suboverland. There was no way I was going to be able to mount solar panels, so I bought portable panels for my power stations. I do experience power loss because of the long cables I use to position the panels far away from my vehicle, but that's to be expected.

    @@freedomdove I scrapped the factory rack and designed/built my own with aluminum rails and 80/20 crossbars. Was able to get two Harbor Freight rifle boxes on the roof and a 175W Renogy solar panel. So far, so good. HF boxes were surprisingly rugged, no leaks.

    Suburban SUV / Camper Indoor & Outdoor Rear Kitchen [Build #20] What i like about this build is the light in the corner, the way that the windows are tinted up to keep lights out and in, the way the cooler and other are at the end of the van inside, the solar panel setup solar system set up, possibly add a fan and a place for the tvQ

    I’ve been messing with my 96’ Suburban 4wd since I bought it 8 yrs ago. Its my everyday driver. My baby. Its my scout vehicle for hunting and fishing trips, so I’ve played with different temp setups. I have tried to sleep in it multiple times, I just can’t do it comfortably. So I’m currently getting ready to set it up with a pull out kitchen and storage boxes, and I usually carry a pop up, a toilet/shower enclosure, and my cot tent. I’ll keep those in the roof rack, and I’m going to get a wrap a round awning and install a solar shower tube to the rack. I’m just going to put a 230w panel mounted to the rack on the roof, with a battery and inverter and charger. I like the battery in the engine compartment setup, gonna have to do that, maybe with the ability to charge while running. Nice set up, I just can never get comfortable in mine to sleep.

    This is awesome! I really want to do something like this. I have a truck bed trailer that is a long bed with a high top Leer camper shell on it. My trailer and a suburban like yours could comfortably sleep 4.

    Pretty much what mine is. It’s my everyday driver. I use it for everything. I hunt and fish so I love it for a quick camp set up. But it’s setup to go immediately at any time, fully loaded to bug out. Never less than 3/4 tank in a 44 gal tank. I’ve owned a lot of trucks, a lot. Still have my 83 F350 that I’m building a custom camper for that’ll be 100% self contained as well, but the Suburban is pretty stealth. When the racks go on, not so much, but still my go too. 😁

    I really like this build as the rear second row seats are still there and usable. Are there any other vehicles you could use the build for that would have comparable length/cargo area

    Most large extended SUVs and minivans that allow you to fold the second row seats flat or low to the floor.

    So nice! I'm impressed by the inside/outside kitchen, tho it seems like you can only access the stove from outside? Ive been camping in windy places for a decade and dream of being able to cook inside, but do you think its too sketchy, even with some windows open for ventilation?

  • @Horizoncamperbuilds

    @Horizoncamperbuilds

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you! It's possible to cook inside if the stove is placed on a low folding table close to the floor in front of the bench drawer. I would also keep the flames low and open the sliding door or windows.
