I love the classic GMCs. Reminds me of my Dad's old behemoth of a Sierra I drove in high school. The new trucks look like spaceships now 🙁

That’s a great job I have worked on Chevrolets and GMC for over 40 years. Very familiar with these, very dependable if you do your maintenance. Newer ones have too many electronics which will really hit your pocketbook. One change I would suggest is a radio that has a screen for navigation. Very finely done.

I just added an Alpine unit to my '95 model for that reason. Garmin also has a mini GPS unit that mounts on your dash and will communicate with a WiFi only model iPad via bluetooth...no need for a cellular account.

I’m not sure if you’re aware but with the barn doors Chevy built in a feature where you can unlatch the door stopper so the doors can swing open 90 degrees.

When I picked up my expedition it was for dedicated weekend adventures. It works out great because it's not a daily driver. I can start a project then put it aside for another day if need be. So many cool toys to buy. I'm looking at some of those off rd trailers. Big money for so little. Might pull my pants up this winter and build one myself. You gave me a lot of great ideas. Have fun.

I have gone a little different direction with mine but form follows function and ultimately these are tools not ends unto themselves. So we shape it for what we do! Great job and I look forward to checking in to see your progress and adventures.

Awesome build, I have a suggestion( haven’t seen it suggested sorry if someone already has). On the barn door models, you could incorporate drop down tables in the inside of the doors, like people do on Jeep Wrangler tailgates. More useable surface for prep and “ in camp “ countertop! Keep it up!

Might I also suggest (if not previously suggested) the 4 high beam conversion (adds low beam headlights to high beams, when high beams are turned on), along with changing the headlights out to 6500K LED for both high & low beam. The electrical draw of LEDs is significantly less, & if ALL bulbs (interior, exterior, headlights, turn signals, markers, brake & reverse) the draw on your battery/alternator will be negligible, yet significantly brighter (by as much as 8× for most). Just make sure to install a LED compatible flasher for use with LED turn signals.

9x suburbans have a place for an auxiliary battery under the hood, and you're really missing an opportunity by not using it. With the battery in the engine bay you can still run cables to the spare tire area. Put an air compressor in that spot and you have a tire pump but also a mattress inflator. Eliminate the foam one and you've gained far more space.

I have a 95 model that was pre-second battery option, and is also has the charcoal canister in that area. I ended up finding a mounting plate and bracket on ebay, but due to space limitation, I was only able to fit in a 72 amp hour yellow top battery. Also had to remove the charcoal canister and provide a vent for the fuel tank. I'm now considering going to a larger 100 amp hour lithium battery somewhere in the rear...either remove a middle set and build a battery box, or remove the interior trim like this video and use the spare tire well.

And I’ve kept 1 lb and backpacker stove fuel canisters in my Suburban for years. Mine is setup to to bug out with nothing having to be added, unless I want a firearm with me, and even then, there’s a spare mag and ammo for every firearm I own in it. I basically bought one of those rolling footlockers. All my gear and food is in that. The propane and stove fuel is wrapped in a couple of tarps. 7-8 years, I’ve never had an issue…not say it can’t happen, but no issues so far

Did you remove the plastic covers on the back interior?? I hope you kept them?? You should have made a drawer on the bottom under the sink because there is no way you could use that space farther than 2 feet. And anything you put in it would go to the front where you couldn't ever get it. And I don't like rear kitchens because if it rains, you are screwed.

Hello amigo, Greetings from Panama City, Panama !! I own one of those suburbans made by Overlanding but I found some problems: 1. Roof basket rust and make too much noise when driving 2. Interior side wood got wet and moister. 3. Spare tire mounted on roof no good when you get a flat.... To heavy to deal with. As soon as I finish new upgrades I will do a video. Bye bye

Thank you for your feedback! I don't recall selling one of my rigs to anyone from Panama City but glad you reached out. *It does look really nice on the outside. Pretty slick.* 🖤 I do not like those black wheels. That's just too much. It looks like you just have plain black wheels on it like a donut spare would look like on it. And as far as the interior, the carpet should have been shampooed with a good stain remover, especially under the back seat. That looks bad.
