What I would REALLY love would be the alternate ending to have the sunbeam come in to landing without the gun active but then a *giant* leviathan never seen before jumps out of the ocean and destroys the sunbeam. That would be awesome.

To all those people who ACTUALLY want to save the sunbeam you have to ignore the radio by not using it until you get the cure and shut down the gun. Once that is done the sunbeam will inform you that they’re not able to do the landing (during the attempted rescue). This is the only to avoid the destruction of the sunbeam

Incorrect. If you shut it down early enough the Sunbeam never enters atmosphere. IT has to be (at least) before you get the timer.

They should detect the player cured by console and add an alternate audio: Guy 1: "Sensors detect a cheater down there" Guy 2: "we're not saving some filthy cheater!" Guy 1: "that's for sure. Heck I don't even want to live in a universe where that is allowed." Guy 2: "...do it. Hit the self destruct." Guy 1: "...I love you d..." BOOOM!

But they had a perfect excuse set up! They said in one message, that the pilot is to incompetent to land, but they'll have to try. Why not just have them crash miserably? It would be funny and a nice reward for people who menage to speed run this game!

Weird cat it wouldn’t work Considering: 1.Subnautica is a open world and with no multiplayer code 2. If it was multiplayer one person would have to wait for a while before play 3. If it was an NPC unknown worlds has no codes for that which is hard to make and run. It wouldn’t be worth making all that script and possibly denting the quality of the game for an Easter egg

Like, if a bolling ball hit a ship it would disintegrate and travel as a cone of debris through the rest of the ship. Ripping apart anything in its path.

@@gregoryl.levitre9759 I mean to be fair you probably would've taken longer to cure yourself and then disable the gun and then wait 40 mins for sunbeam to arrive so some debris might fly through in that time rather than just them arriving. Although I do find it kinda weird that they just say too much debris and just LEAVE YOU?!? I wish there was an alternate ending where you could escape with sunbeam rather than the rocket.

There’s a pretty simple solution: Sunbeam doesn’t realise that their ship wouldn’t be able to land properly on the small strip of land so they send the recipe for the Neptune Rocket to your PDA and maybe drop off some supplies too so you can make it

You can save the SUNBEAM by getting cured BEFORE the countdown ever activates. They will say that there is a Debris field around the planet left over from the Aurora, and that they cant land. (I actually did this in my own run and saved the sunbeam :D ) EDIT after a year: Debris

You can save the sunbeam by disabling the gun before the transmission, you'll then get a transmission saying that there is debris and from the Aurora and they can't land and send data to altaria

Thanks for doing that. I had survivors guilt wandering if I could've done anything to save them. Good to know that there was nothing that I could've done.

According to the comments, you can save them if you don't summon them with the radio until after you get the cure, then they will just say they can't do the landing, and they never come.

but you already had the rescue mission active and the sunbeam timer active when you cured yourself with console commands. What you should have done (don't know if this is possible): don't use console commands to cure yourself delay the rescue misssion by ignoring the radio visit the sea emperor leviathan craft the cure and use it, and only then use the radio to start the rescue mission.

The sound effect when the gun gets "active" was so spot on

While, it is probably true that the developers never planned for an alternate ending, there is also the possibility that you need to do the actual quest to get the cure because a lot of things are different when you do the quest.

I never got the infected animation and didn’t get the green dots on my hands yet it said I was infected. How does that work?

Well, there is another way to take it in... The precurser gun has now shut down for whatever wants to leave the planet as it is now uninfected but becomes active when something enters the atmosphere as there would be a chance of the guests to bring in more such infections to the land

actually... there was some new dialog added after this video.... sunbeam survives if you make the cure. They say there's too much debris and just leave

I love Subnautica hope they keep making more. Maybe add an interaction for going into the void, if you can reach the bottom you'll learn something very useful like blueprints for a Cosmo map that you can use to escape after making an escape ship. I'd imagine the sunbeam crew ejected before they were shot down. Use a sunbeam character that survived. I would like to explore a new planet and travel to it using a constellation map. There's so much more to create in Subnautica story and gameplay it's awesome

I just tried this in my game, the sunbeam refused to land because there was too much debris in the atmosphere caused by the Aurora getting shot.

Fun fact:If you don’t go to the landing point, Sunbeam will do a scan for any humans near and something happens after,I did it my self Btw you will not hear any dialogue tho Try it out

In the new Subnautica, it won't fire. But the still Sunbeam can't land.

If you get thru the game w/out using the radio then the sunbeam should land and people should help you in, sort of like the Firewatch ending.

The Sunbeam's supposed to not attempt rescue since the debris field is too large, but that's only if you turn the tower off before the Sunbeam messages you about landing.

Speedrunners: get cured, build a rocket and get off the planet before the Sunbeam arrives.

I tested this today and what happens as of now is that the timer just goes into 'negative countdown' after it hits zero when you cure yourself and disable the gun island while the timer for the sunbeam is active.

Pretty sure there is (or used to be) a thing where if you got cured before it landed, and it would say this: "Aurora survivors, this is trading ship Sunbeam. We've tracked your distress signal, but your ship's left a substantial debris field up in orbit, we can't attempt a landing. We're gonna have to head home. We'll send our data to Alterra as soon as we can. Hold on in there. Sunbeam, out." But I think it only works if you do it without cheating

Now we got the alternative ending the sunbeam simply just flays away bc the train is too harsh to land

makes sense really, it still would want to stop the sunbeam from coming down and infecting themselves

Must be a separate control terminal for incoming vessels so the player can leave by building the rocket but sunbeam guys are toast lol
