    I just suddenly started to laugh so hard when I saw the Hurt Skirt, ..because for decades...when I had a sprained ankle or a bad elbow pain; I would take a stretchy sock....or 2 ...cut the toe part of it/them, and slide that over the affected area, and it did the trick in alleviate the pain..... Now, I am almost in tears at the thought that I could have been the guy that came up with that product idea. ...Oh well ...nowadays; I make a conscious effort to think out of the box , and I got a few items that would make life easier for some people in the construction trade....Still in the prototype state....but it has great potential. That has me a bit concerned, as well. I just realized today that pitching the invention with only a PPA is a public disclosure, which could come back to bite you, if the licensing deal falls through, or takes longer than a year to negotiate. In some countries outside the PCT, pitch meetings with a PPA are considered prior art, and make the idea ineligible for patent protection.

  • @ericteng3053

    @ericteng3053

    @@CognitiveDissident. I don't get your saying that pitch meetings with a PPA are considered prior art. If your PPA application is filed before the meeting, why does it matter that the meeting becomes prior art? It's just like you file your PPA before you start mass selling, why would you care that your mass selling becomes prior art?

  • @CognitiveDissident.

    @CognitiveDissident.

    Жыл бұрын

    @@ericteng3053 Public disclosure could effect your ability to get a patent outside the US, whether you have a PPA in the US or not, but I think I was partly misinformed at the time I wrote this, from having heard a lot of different things from different people wanting to sell their services. I think the US PPA covers you for the PCT, but public disclosure also means you have to file for 2 Patents after 12 months to protect the idea in most of the world.

  • @ericteng3053

    @ericteng3053

    Жыл бұрын

    @@CognitiveDissident. If you have a public disclosure, just make sure you fill for a patent, whether US or international, within one year and you'd be okay anyway. For the US, you should file it within one year of your PPA filing that means doing it before the one year anniversary of your "public disclosure". For international filing, I believe you PPA filing will be the prior art of somebody else but not yours. So still, you'll never be hurt by your "public disclosure" after you have filed for the PPA in the US.

  • @ericteng3053

    @ericteng3053

    Жыл бұрын

    @@CognitiveDissident. Also, with or without public disclosure, you still have to file for multiple patents if you want protection in outside of the US. So again, whether that counts as a "public disclosure" is moot.

    @@marcportney7660 Bright side is it will take you about 10sec to understand it completely. So even if it's a No, it's not a time taker. I just have to submit a PPA, then shoot a video of the working prototype I made for my own use.

    Hello Gilbert, Most companies will not sign an NDA. The best protection is the history of how a company treats inventors. I would also file a Provisional Patent Application. NDA‘s are not a great protection vehicle. Most inventors are a little confused on their purpose. Thank you for watching and commenting.
