Subject-Verb Agreement in English | Part 7: Advanced Rules

subject-verb agreement
In part six of my Subject-Verb Agreement in English grammar series, we will discuss indefinite pronouns and subject-verb agreement. Pronouns are words that take the place of nouns in a sentence. Indefinite pronouns are pronouns that don't refer to a specific person, place, or thing. Examples: anyone, everybody, all, most, both, few
Singular indefinite pronouns always take a singular verb, and plural indefinite pronouns always take a plural verb. However, some indefinite pronouns can take either singular or plural verbs, depending on the context. We will discuss this in-depth in my English lesson!
In part one of my subject-verb agreement series, we learned that singular subjects need singular verbs and plural subjects need plural verbs. In part two of my series, we explored collective nouns. Part three focused on subject-verb agreement with countable vs. uncountable nouns. Part four discussed compound subjects with and, or, and nor. Part five focused on "here" and "there" with inverted sentence structure.
At the end of this lesson, there will be a 10-question subject-verb agreement quiz to test your knowledge!

Excellent handling of the subject in 7 videos! The examples selected/framed fully justified the point -- subject decides the form of verb. Hats-off!

To be honest, I stopped short from taking the test. I found that this session, dives into an old genre, of technical writing. Tradesmen in the field, found some of my wording, difficult to comprehend. This, I take seriously, and sometimes personally. There's a difference in the punctuation of ( ' vs " ) one equals the number of feet, vs inches. As in 6' (feet) vs 6" (inches) that's how important it is. I'm going to spend a great deal of time on this one. 👍
