I have a problem lady, I call her the wife 🤣
I think only a mechanic would truly understand the gratification of finding that.
THIS _is_ the reason we watch this channel. Eric O is always willing to show us the cause, if at all possible. So here he posted a one minute follow-up, _just_ to show the _actual_ fault. Eric O is also illustrating just how hard it is, sometimes, to _see_ what is wrong.

He is a GREAT automotive mechanic. Understands the process and importance of diagnostics to pin point the issue. He is a rare breed.
In the past week I was stuck in a Hospital bed bored out of my mind! Having my cell phone and SMA saved my sanity! I caught up on some videos and watched all the recent weeks SMA content! What was more concerning to me was the staff that took care of me, Nurses, Nursing assistants and Technicians. They were male and female asked what I was watching and several knew of SMA and had watch SMA when looking for information on their personal vehicles and repairs! This audience you have collected are not just gear heads or DIYers? You and your Family should be very proud of your shop, business and family ethics. You made my week and kept my mind off the silly stuff when trapped in a hospital! Thank You! As usual keep up the great content! From a comeback job or just finding a Nick in a wire! Working on Rust is your GOLD mine! Enjoy the weekend! You sir are a common man, but you are also an American Treasure! Thank You!
I always say that finding the problem erases all the headaches along the path of discovery. Good find and thanks for sharing.

Funny how that works
Your honesty at owning it is respectable sir 👍
I had an ABS fault a few years ago on a Peugeot. Every time it reached 40 mph the ABS light would come on and stay on until the ignition was cycled. Code was right front wheel speed sensor signal, but the circuit tested fine in the workshop. When I examined the driveshaft (it was the type with a toothed reluctor ring around the outside) I found a hairline crack in between two teeth. As the shaft rotated, it reached a speed when centrifugal force would open the crack and increase the gap enough to trigger an error code. New driveshaft (axle) cured it.

Nice one.
Finally! An example where firing the parts canon would have worked. Much respect for the extremes that you go to in order to avoid replacing good parts..
Always good to know for sure you located the culprit causing the problem. Great videos! 👍🏻👍🏻

Wires can break internally without showing external evidence.
Hidden in plain sight just like SMA’s over all awesomeness.
Hey, ‘Dr. O’, don’t fret too much over the nicked wire, we’ve all encountered something similar at one point in our lives. We learn from our mistakes, and I bet you won’t miss another one like that in the future. The important thing is you found the problem and repaired it.
Thanks for the follow up. Man that's a clean nick. Would be hard to see for sure. You wonder how it got such a clean slice like that.
You sir are the only mechanic in the world I would let touch my car, and I have major trust issues when it comes to mechanics. lol
As a tech and shop four bay shop owner (retired) I know well how cars will keep you humble. Looking back on how I could have missed something so obvious in the visual inspection. Keep doing what you're doing Eric. You're top notch. If I had 100 of you I would have ruled the world :)
Nice to have modern-day video technology to assist in forensic diagnostics
Your inclination was spot on, but there's a certain satisfaction in knowing why that's the case.
It's nice to know that the proverbial snake waiting to bite you prowls around in ALL walks of life. Just mark a check (in case you are keeping track) and walk on. But, keep that snake bite kit handy. 😀
Thanks for showing something you could have hidden. Good lesson to be sure to check wires for cuts.
Nice find Eric, I saw a new video posted and was ready to watch it while having breakfast. I didn’t even get the first swallow of my coffee and the video was done 🤦🏼♂️. Nice to have you post the follow up and another SMA customer smiling now. Have a great weekend !
Great follow-up. Good teaching, Sir . Take care, thanks 😊
it is the small damages that cause great problems... good find Eric!
I’ve got a friend named Nick, nobody notices him either! 😂. Good catch on the broken wire, it’s fixed now!
There's a lot of us wished we lived closer so you could fix our vehicles!
Eric, I believe it’s us old dogs who don’t remember to put out readers on. These things are easy to overlook the older we get. Big fan of the channel, love your tips and no how
Hi Eric, At least you did find the cause for the DTC.
Are you going to do a "Mrs. O running the mini excavator"?

In a tank top?
I chased an intermittent left front ABS sensor problem on my wife's Audi over about a year. Sometimes I could see spikes in the graph for that channel but otherwise it read fine. It had a new sensor, no change, new wheel bearing, no change. Every time I worked on it, it would end up looking fixed for a week or so. I ended up swapping the front left & right channels at the ABS controller. The fault moved on the scope so I knew the controller was ok, and it must be something related to that wheel. Eventually I found an intermittent open circuit in the car side of the ABS sensor connector. One of the wires had broken from its crimp and was only being held in (surprisingly well) by the weather pack. One of those where I felt a little annoyed that I didn't find such a "basic" thing earlier, but also pleased that I felt absolutely certain I found the fault.
Don’t beat yourself up too bad Mr. O. Your nose for sniffing out broken wires remains unmatched
Odd that little guy worked so well. Amazing really it was so intermittent! Thought that would just be open circuit. Good job.

That's what I'm sayin haha
Hi Eric ... A great follow up on the speed sensor. The video images tell the story! Stay safe & healthy!
Nice follow-up; it's all perfectly clear (after you find the problem). Kind of a slap to the back of your head (aka, Gibbs slap on Dinozzo).
We've all been there looking for a problem that is staring us in the face. Good to finally find it though.
I like it Eric O. will say "look here! I missed that" and show us. Humbleness is a virtue. I noticed when I wear glasses I see stuff better, gettin' older I reckon...thanks for the follow up Mr O.
Good Morning: Thanks for the Follow-up. I consider this another example of " It happens". One will slip by. Now you have been reminded to continue to be diligent. We've had those. Question, would a continuity check have caught that? Please keep having your great videos. Looking forward to the next one.
It's always comforting to have that eureka moment when chasing an intermittent problem. At first I thought the wire you were showing us was the new one coming out of the box that that showed Made in China. Cheers
I wonder how many people in the chat are gonna say you could of easily repaired those wires rather than replacing the sensor?? I miss it when you used to say " There's your problem lady" Great update bud...Thanks.
You found it. That’s what counts. Nothing escapes Dr O
That nick must have been hiding behind something for you to miss it, and I'm surprised with how bad it is that it was that intermittent!
That’s good that you actually found the issue. I hope you installed a warning label on the steering wheel about the new brakes for the lady to prevent whip lash. 😂😂
You have to respect a guy who owns up to missing something
You're only human Mr.O sometimes we get so caught up in the complex we miss the obvious answer
Really appreciate the follow-up! I always, always learn something from you :)
Thanks for the follow-up Mr. O!
Always good to look at the old parts 👍
Thank you for the follow-up Mr. O.
Great Job, Eric! 👍🙏
Another job well sorted MrO 👌👌👌
Eric, I just knew you are the best. Showing details of damaged parts, not putting blame on others, taking you must have missed the damage at install. All I know is, if you can do it, I can and will watch. Thanks so much for sharing your very specialized skills and talent. Keep filming these repairs, I just know young mechanics are watching and learning.
Thank you for the followup. I enjoy the variety of your car repair challenges.
Good post. You can always not notice something that is obvious once you find it.
We were all there with you… & none of us noticed it either!
I was looking for the nick in the prior vid and never saw it either. I just knew it would be the rust. Thanks for sharing.
Good find there sir The master has succeeded 👍
I love u don't hide anything and You are real deal ! Respect !
Thanks for the follow up!!
Thanks for the follow up
Yup, you can see the cut at about the 10:20 mark on the Subaru video. Thanks for the follow up.
Eric, on the last video it did finally show us the glipch in the diagnostic when you went over a bump. But you had already gone over lots of bumps without fail. Weird, but glad you found it.
How could you not notice me!! 😅 Long time subscriber and love your channel. Also congrats on over 800k subs that's a testament to your skills and consistent quality content.
Finally a fix to the problem!!! Whew - I was a bit stumped also....Great job for finding it...
It's good to have known closure to an issue for sure rather than just taking a very good educated guess. Keep up the good work!
I truly appreciate your honesty. You shouldn't be disappointed, you still got the problem solved.
Thanks for the update.
Good stuff Mr O a lot of other channels would not have been as honest as you thats what makes your channel the best. (My opinion.)Cheers.
Thanks for the follow-up... always good to find the real problem. Home-gamer opportunity to repair the break!
I saw that nick, and here we go, I ascertained that you had noticed it and gave it a pass, and it is on you recording!
Have a "common" Chevrolet impala problem with ABS in front. Similar breaks in wires. Even in replaced harnesses. Cheap fragile wiring. Difficult to find without close Mr. O searching. Thanks Eric!!
I had exactly the same problem on a scooter, luckily I noticed it before buying a new sensor and repaired it.
Great follow up
Great follow up video. That one would be easy to miss....
Great Little Video...hank You...
Since the wiring is sold as a unit with the sensor, I wouldn't call this one a miss. You made the right call, even in retrospect. Thanks for the followup, nothing builds experience better than understanding the cause.
Wow! What a find.... surprised you didn'tcatch that either. You're the broken wire whisperer.... maybe you're losing that gift. 😮😜😅
That's your intermittent problem. Thanks for sharing.
Once again, Beautiful.
Sharp eye there Eric . A skill a good mechanic must have .
Wow, pretty amazing that ever worked!?! Thanks for sharing!
Nice work
Awesome to find the answer!!
Well superman has x-ray vision. You sir have only reader glasses. Still you manage superman repair. Nice work. Let's say this one never came back. It was waiting for parts to arrive from never any parts available.
Thanks for sharing
Nice to know that Nick was the problem. Good job fella.
My first thought was that was the NAPA (not a sponsor) replacement part. :)
Afternoon Eric👍
If NAPA would only sponsor you, it would be the only car parts store I'd go to
Now you have a confirmed reason for the fix Eric. Sleep well tonight.
Thanks !
Well that definitely explains the intermittent problem!
Sneaky little bugger. I'm surprised that contacted as well as it did too. Maybe with the steering on full lock, over bumpy ground, at a high enough speed, was the only time it would momentarily separate. Another good fix Eric
You finally got the smoking gun, old son! thanks for updating us!
Thanks for this. Am fighting an eeriely similar issue on a 2001 Mercedes ML 320. Start and drive it for 300 KM - all is good. Turn it off and restart and start driving and within a block the right front wheel locks up and the dash lights up like a Christmas tree. Going to inspect the wheel sensor today
Lol. Good plan. All points covered.
Nice find. Sometimes it takes a couple times to find out what really is going on.
I'm just amazed that you were able to remove the OE ones.
Good show. The OEM says it takes very little amperage to operate sensors, so if it made mere contact it would work; no arcing due to heat of resistance, I suppose.
Woo hoo! Time for a tall one!
I did not realize that is how we say it down in the south. But you are probably right.
yay customer happy wooo
Whew! Close one!
Just had the same issue with my 98 C-1500. Intermittent ABS light. I found the broken wire and soldered it back together. Just 2 weeks ago.
