Subaru Impreza 2024 review: New 2.0L small hatch targets Toyota Corolla, Hyundai i30 and Kia Cerato
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The 2024 Subaru Impreza has finally arrived in Australian showrooms, some 15 months after its global reveal, with the sixth-generation small hatchback closely related to the third-generation Crosstrek (nee XV) SUV that's been on sale locally since May 2023.
In fact, the similarities between the new Impreza and Crosstrek run so deep that key differences between the two are few and far between. After all, even the former comes with the Japanese brand's signature symmetrical all-wheel-drive system, which is unique for its class. That said, the latter does set itself apart with the option of a very mild hybrid powertrain.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Senior Journalist Tom White gets behind the wheel of the new Impreza's entry-level AWD 2.0L variant to find out if it and its 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol boxer four-cylinder engine have what it takes to challenge the Toyota Corolla, Hyundai i30 and Kia Cerato in a very challenging segment.

I'm so pleased I kept my cassettes😅.
A great versatile car. Not all of us want to drive fast. Once they sort out the hybrid from Toyota it will be even better. Will own a cross trek one day.
Thanks. I feel it's a very honest & down to earth review...
Hi. Do u guys have a detailed vdo on Maxus D90 top variant in petrol or in diesel for the latest facelift 2025 models. If u have then plz upload that vdo on ur channel.😊😊😊😊
Plastic wheel and shifter is revolting. I'd step up to the next grade.
Agreed, a hybrid and another, beefed up version will help it's popularity

Didnt know power was measured by time. That's new. Wow 5kw down on the i30 and 11kw over the corolla. Wow! It must be bad.
I think the journalist think people who buy Subaru cross shop with Corolla. We buy it as we see it above those car, symmetrical AWD is hard to explain once you drive it you cannot go back. The space is versatile, lifestyle orientate. It can fit a whole bike in the back and the Corolla is smaller and impractical with its hatch opening. So many small things that other companies don’t cater. On paper it’s not great but ownership is amazing
