Subaru BRZ Stock under

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Finally!!! 8:19.82 Nordschleife BTG with my Subaru BRZ Stock! Lost time in the first half of the lap even to a lap which was bad itself... but managed to recover and achieve my objective!
Tires: NEW Federal 595 RS-R (I fear tire pressures were too low but couldn't test any further).
Brake pads: Ferodo DS2500.
Out of 8 laps, ideal time would be 8:13! There is always room to improve, although I would need a closed track :)

    That's some serious talent and bravery there. Nicely done. If only all 86/brz/frs drivers aspired to do this rather than rocket bunny, air ride, engine swap them only to hang out in car parks polishing them. Keep up the good work.

    It's a car that's as fast as its driver, that's why a lot of people think it's slow: the problem exists between the steering wheel and the seat. When you build a car right, it doesn't buck around when accelerating, it stays calm and in control, but a lot of people expect even a moderately fast car to be dramatic when accelerating, but not here. No, it's not going to match a GT-R on the straights (at least not an R35 for sure), but I've driven quite my share of cars including a Ferrari 458 and R34 GTR and nothing has come close to the handling of my FR-S. Put some good tires and learn to drive and the FR-S redefines what can be done with 200 horsepower.

I cant get into details of all the mods but if I had the chance to take the car there i should be able to get about 7:30 if I'm on a clear track. Great driving and time! You make us BRZ owners proud. With regards to calling it stock, I think it's best to be as accurate as possible, to list the year model, trim, and say ALMOST stock BRZ. To say it's stock means anyone can purchase a brz out of the factory and expect to get the same time (not saying you were hiding it or anything). I think a supercharged BRZ pushing 300wheel, wider tires, coilovers, brakes and some camber plates would be a pretty mean budget track car setup that could punch well above it's class. If he was carrying 20% more speed in exit and hitting 250kph between corners instead of 160, this thing would push 7min25, I'm sure of it

    AzNightmare Wow I didn't even know the laptime was on Wiki, I'm not responsible for that. I haven't changed anything else, so I don't see the point in the anger of your comment.

  • @AzNightmare

    *Sorry, my bad. I was just in a discussion with some guy and I quoted the lap time indicating the BRZ was a lot quicker than it really is. Now I have to backpedal so I wasn't happy. Perhaps in the grand scheme of things, brake and tires are minor car mods... but in the context of stock vs stock, I would consider anything that can drastically alter lap times not being stock... As in the whole point of comparing stock cars is so that you can get an accurate comparison of what you get out the door when you make your purchase from the dealership. For example... a fully stock BRZ gets **8:48**.... You shimmed off 29 seconds with your aftermarket brakes and tires. That's a significant difference that can tip the scale of a discussion on a stock vs not stock BRZ. Awesome driving btw. Shaving 29 seconds is no small joke.*

  • @BRZ601

    AzNightmare I understand your point. I bet I can do better than 8:48 even with the dreadful stock Primacy tires and the stock brakes, but I wouldn't risk my life for that :-P I had seen an 8:27 done by a Ring driving instructor with proper tires and brakes (highly recommended for track use). So I bought the same material and did better, happy with that :-D I have no interest in setting a reference laptime, too many things can affect a laptime in such a long track in tourist driving! My only aim is to improve my driving abilities... So, no bad blood ;-)

    Be quite, have a long drink, it's safer when off in track day...it's not so usual to track with winter tires and soft road pads. No one will track in any circuit this way. There is the road to travel.....and on the end if you are driving with ECE tyre (R888R, Pilot Sport Cup2 of Michelin are legal road tyre ECE90 too...same legal road tires as Michelin Premacy) you are stock. Be quite for sure. It's a stock car, no FIA rules modifications were made. Ferodo DS2500 are usually fabric pads for several cars (Abarth 500 too).

  • @AzNightmare

    @AzNightmare

    *The stock Primacy tires are not winter tires... they are summer tires (obviously not the best available). This has nothing to do with FIA modification rules, nor the video presented. He's on the track, doing what he wants on his own personal time. As for Nürburgring lap times, the issue is on the definition of stock. Or maybe to clarify, stock vs "production"... If tires (and brakes) alone can shave off 29 seconds, that's pretty significant. Even if you can alter your time from a production model by 5 seconds, that's significant enough. If every car out there is swapping to the highest end brakes and tires and still claiming they are "stock", then it really defeats the whole purpose of lap times. You can buy a cheap car, and drop in $3-5k on upgrades and beat out other cars claiming it's stock, as if that's what you get from a production car when you buy it from a dealership. Obviously we're talking about apples vs oranges here. I'm here to find out what cars can do right out of the dealer, so when you buy a car, you get exactly what you get without spending a single extra dollar. Then you can determine if the car is good value for what you pay. While people with claimed lap times on a production car can take a car out of the dealer, drop in extra money on upgrades and still claim it's stock. If you're spending extra money after production, then it's really not the same car that you paid for when you first bought it. Then again, Nürburgring has always had controversy of "cheating" so who really cares I guess. And once again, to be clear, I'm not directing this to the driver in the video, as he was straight forth about his modifications and more importantly, he wasn't racing in any competition event.* *And having inferior equipment on a car doesn't mean less safe. It just means you need to know your limit, meaning the car cannot go as fast if the parts can't handle it. Do you drive a STI the same way as a Huracan, or do you know the limits that the STI cannot take corners the same way nor break the same after a straight.*
