Hey Theorists, how short are your pants? Are they as short as Pedro Pascal’s shorts at the 2023 Met Gala? Or as long as Rihanna’s flowing Valentino Haute Couture gown? Well take a good look because your answer may determine whether we’re actually in an economic recession or time of prosperity. But, wait… how is that possible? Your shorts can’t ACTUALLY predict the future, can they? Hang on to those short shorts because we’re about to find out!

I was switching between pants for work and gym shorts at home. I still had to go to work since I'm an 'essential worker' which means I'm risking my life to go to work (according to politicians and media) but got paid way less than if I had been an 'unessential worker' where I'd get to sit on my arse at home and collect my base pay plus $600 instead of just my base pay (sorry, everytime I'm reminded of that fact it makes just a wee bit irritated). At home I usually wear gym shorts because my condo (which is more of an apartment) gets way to hot (boiler heat in the winter that I have no control over and AC is too expensive, assuming the ancient wall mount unit works at all, to run in the summer).

As far as I remember, conditioner has two functions: 1- adding moisture to your hair after you stripped all the oils with the shampoo (so, conditioner is particularly important if you have dry hair, but not really necessary if you're like me with that extra oily hair). 2- balance the static of your hair to remove frizz (which makes it tangle less and makes it easier to comb/brush). There are different types of conditioners with other functions, though. From curl intensifiers to straighteners, detangling and colour toner ones to pair with colour toner shampoos, among others; there are many different types of conditioners with specific functions.

My two biggest tips from a former fat girl who could wear through jeans rapidly - 1. Only get jeans that are 98% cotton or more. You usually can't find 100% and probably wouldn't want it as it will hardly stretch. 2. Only wash your jeans every 10 wears or until they have substantial dirt or any smell. Between wears hang them up to air out. The higher the natural fabric content, the better they air out.

I learned about the hemline index in fashion school! But I didn't know about the men's fashion getting shorter when women's got longer...interesting!

Given what I heard about zoom meetings, a lot of dudes were wearing athletic shorts or only underwear, so I would consider that to be pretty short. I personally wore athletic shorts during the shutdowns as opposed to the jeans I normally wear

I love the history tour in this theory! To stay true to ✨science✨ though, we shouldn't forget that correlation doesn't mean causation. So even though this pattern is certainly something that strikes attention, it doesn't necessarily prove a direct connection between the shortness of clothes and economy.

Even I can verify the whole shorts thing for 2020. More often than not, I found myself often wearing shorts, mostly ones that just barely reach the knee, though the shorts s&p can also signify rising global temperatures.

I've heard about this theory before, but the one I've heard was how the taller the shoes, the worse for the economy it's fun to hear another spin on it
