Lydia, your lessons are the best for me: there're loads of beautiful outfit ideas online, but very few people actually explain why it works. And you do it in a very clear and coherent way, as a scholar I also appreciate the structure and the logic of your videos. Keep going!

Love this! Also, I would totally appreciate a video for business professional summer dressing. It’s really hot where I live and summer dressing feels far more difficult than any other season.

Not toning down a color with black was a real eye opener! All the other tips are also great and put into words what I already sensed but couldn't pin down myself. Thank you so much!

Mixing metals and coordinating shoes, bag and belt is always something I’ve been unsure about. It’s annoying when the hardware on my bag doesn’t match the hardware on my belt or loafers, but it’s not a deal breaker unless the hardware is a feature or focal point in the outfit. Matching whites is no longer something I try to do. So helpful once again, thanks Lydia. I love the main outfit you’re wearing. 🥰

in the last few years it felt less and less good for me to pair black with colour. I prefer to match black with black or white now and colour with brighter colors. So I was glad to hear that

I enjoy all the content esp videos that explain why something does or doesn’t work, plus ones that discuss timeless rules, outdated rules, and so on. The cutaways are great because I get to see what you’re explaining and find myself analyzing along with you; “yes, it does have a more modern look when metals are mixed.” I’m building up my wardrobe after many years of neglect and anxiety around buying items. I’ve wanted a simple, elegant, and unique wardrobe for practical, financial, and environmental reasons. I haven’t known where to begin or how to pair items. So glad I found your channel.

The tip about layering a few different tones of white altogether in one outfit is an approach i have taken with monochromatic outfits overall and I find it adds a dimensionality to an outfit that keeps it fresh, keeps it relaxed, and adds a whole other set of options in my wardrobe.

This Spring I pulled out a mustard yellow coat that I'd always wore in the Fall. It felt new in Spring pairing it with the same color tee, light beige trousers and the Isabel Marant tan belt. Thank you, Lydia for all your lessons and inspiration. So many of us think you are a God Send. For over 20 years I shopped at a U.S. retailer that's been around since the 1940's called Talbots. Even though they promoted classic styles, I found that season after season.... year after year I ended up with a closet full of items that I'd only wear a few times.... then bought more clothes. I've been ready for a change and a major edit in my wardrobe for some time. Discovering and following you has been wonderful and liberating. I was one of those matchy-matchy try hard dressers. You are helping me to see the light of change, buying less and learning how to maximize what I have, adding few carefully chosen pieces! If you could see my closet...you'd say OMG...she really need my help!! I needed a major EDIT.

Hey Lydia…thank you for your style videos. You have definitely impacted my style over the past 2ish years. Over time I’ve started following more and more fashion influencers, but I always find myself just organically finding my way back to your insta page/KZread channel because I know at the end of the day your tips and guidelines are applicable to my day-to-day style. I always come away with simply all around GOOD, practical info (which also affects my consumer habits in a positive way ☺️) and I find that my concept on ‘clothes’ has changed so much for the better. I definitely used to view shopping for clothes as ‘look for the newest/latest in-style thing’ and now I’m much more conscious of quality, cut, material, shape, fit, color etc. Your content stands out and has definitely made a difference on my overall approach to style vs fashion. 💛

I love wearing grey wide-leg trousers with colored tops. Grey and shades of purple/lilac/lavender are especially beautiful.

This is great advice. Tough for an old-school woman like me but you’ve challenged me on many levels and I’m liking what I see in the mirror. Keep it up!

I love the look of mixing different whites! I also love videos showing how small styling hacks are what make the outfit. I sometimes think-I have those same pieces, but they look boring, unflattering or even frumpy on me. Seeing how tucking, turning up sleeves, sock styles or even where clothing hits, like at ankle, waist, collar line... it's all is what really makes you look chic and effortless. Those lessons really help!

All kinds of behind the scenes videos are always sooooooooo interesting especially when you aren’t in the same industry. So…how you film or plan and prepare for or set up your videos. What the admin side of your business looks like and all the negotiating, contracts, your team, managing your business parts that can be applied in many different jobs. How it started vs how you run it now and what you had to teach yourself and learn and make mistakes in along the way. Also, it’s so interesting to see productivity tips and how you schedule your work and get everything done, including maybe the tools and spreadsheets you use or don’t use. I’m in a completely different field but I LOVE to watch and ALWAYS learn a new way of looking at or doing something from seeing people in other fields and jobs. Can hardly wait to see what you come up with and share!!

I will watch anything you put out Lydia, anything! But my favourite segments are the all you need are basics and the one item 5 ways videos :) I’ve learnt so much!

Really loving these lesson type of videos. The breaking down of all the details you teach for how to create an outfit that is current and creative really makes a difference. Could you please do a video series on dressing different body types, especially for people who are combination of body types. For example I'm pear shaped, but with apple belly area, and extra broad chest, thick limbs, and I'm 5"2 generally size 14 so plus size. Honestly I can't tell you how many times going shopping has me cry inside and feel like nothing I like looks good on me. Would love to see your take on how to dress for my body, especially wide jeans/trousers, blazers, etc, while looking well balanced. Love your contrast style sensibility.

I love seeing the outfit where things don't quite work as well against the one where they do. it really helps to explain the point. I much prefer this type of video rather than hauls or 'what I wore' videos.

The black trousers and coloured top, again I think are sort of wasted on each other. They can both be showed off so much better using them separately. I am learning a great deal from your videos as I update my entire wardrobe. Although I have to do it on the cheap (think SHEIN) it provides direction as to where to invest and where to cheat a bit on the budget. Hints like monochrome colors do not need to be a perfect match of colors but rather the same family in different textures, And the fact that you can mix gold and silver jewelry/accessories is freeing and increases opportunities for looks. I really enjoy your tone and presentation. It is helpful with a warm and encouraging attitude. By the way, your 11 Staples video from last month was especially helpful!

Nailed it... I’ve always enjoyed subtle mixed metals and felt like I was breaking a style rule, but with zippers, buckles, and jewelry it becomes too rigid to completely match to one; tonal combinations of metals and accessories is interesting and creative.

I love a lot of your style tips, but I have to say that I just loved the matching belt, shoes and bag look! Same with the leather, a lighter shoe with the black leather trousers doesn't look right to me, but I love the mixing up of the silver and gold, and totally agree with your views on the colour black 😉

I really like these kinds of videos were your audience learn a lot. I also like the way you teach style without being condescending. It doesn't have to be all luxury brands. You can inject one or two luxury items but still wear with simple inexpensive clothes. For this video, I'm breaking the rule of not wearing leather for summer. I have 3 leather pants. One black, one camel and one gray. I will definitely start wearing them. I'm from BC Canada and it doesn't really get that warm here. Thank you for all your tips.
