This jet is a stuff of legends. Seeing a Ho 229 fly really makes my spine tingle when I see one.

I just love the design of it
Kinda illustrates that an iteration of Ho-229 could have reached New York by flying high gliding and conserving fuel. Amazing design and nice flying!

Yeah... no. It really doesn't. This 700g model represents a full-sized aircraft weighing just 240kg. You can't compare a model with an unknown airfoil profile that's at least 20x lighter than it should be, with a full-sized aircraft.

@sergarlantyrell7847 the horten 229 flew with jet engines for some time in its first and only test flight then it's engine failed during a landing and the plane crashed killing the pilot. The older prop and glider versions flew normal without needing an advanced fly by wire system (that wouldn't exist for the next decades anyway)

Herrlich. Hervorragende Arbeit. Diesem Modell dermaßen gute Flugeigenschaften mitzugeben ist eine großartige Leistung.
I was very surprised at how quickly it turned. Great flying model and very well flown.

Because it only weighs 700g... So wing loading and stall speed is incredibly low. If it were to scale, it would be more like 14kg.
😊🙏 Horten HO-229 Wing Plane is always so fascinating to study & watch! Thank You So Much for the efforts & for sharing! Appreciate it! 🌷🌿🌍✌💜🕊🇩🇪🇸🇬🇲🇾
What a beautiful model. This guy is skilled in building and flying. Nice! 👍

Probably because its a model of a killing machine ( great RC model no doubt and really well flown considering its size)
Es ist einfach wie eine Zauberei! Wunderschön!!! Echt Klasse! 😊
I love those lightweight RCs because they are not that fast. That makes them look much more realistic.

"realistic" when talking about a plane that was supposed to reach 900 kph and is roughly 1/10 the size making scaled speed 90 kph.

great build and smooth flying. What a treat to watch. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing indoor aircraft. I understand aerodynamics and these big models defy the norm. I’ve flown models for over 50 years of all types and I’ve read that there are helium sacks internally that offsets the wing loading. Either way they are great to watch. 👍
@jakegarrett8109

Your wing loading would be the same... Now you replaced lift, with lift... Literally same upwards force, in the same direction, just think about it. This model is also incredibly heavy, I bet it was made with regular foam board (you should check out "Penny plane" rubber band models, those things weigh 1 penny, and have decent sized wings with 10 inch props and almost float in the air, hence some people get 1 hour flight times from a rubber band). Also helium in the wings is probably not worth it, have you had a deflated helium balloon before? The reason they don't float anymore is because the volume per area (basically material weight), is no longer good enough for the overall package to be lighter than air. If you look at these wings, what do they have? Lots of area, and barely any volume... It wouldn't help you, it could only hurt. This only makes sense for thick wings, and its only a couple grams of lift anyways, just spend more time trimming down your structure if you want improved results. Also you should be using Hydrogen if you want real lift, helium is far more heavy (yeah hydrogen is explosive, but you get so little out of helium...)
Just awesome. I love seeing your vids from this show every year. Exceptional indoor models. Think I am probably as excited as you at you reaching 1M subscribers. Respect buddy. You work hard. Hope we get to meet one day. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
That is pretty amazing.... It fly's well and so slow and precise!
Echt geil! Perfekt gelungen. Wunderschön beim gleiten zu zu schauen
What a amazingly stable craft! Usually flying wing design aircraft are unstable even with gyros and specially at low speeds. Props to the maker for such a perfectly balance model.
@bogomir67
5 жыл бұрын
the Horten designs are actually inherently stable - they came from gliders in the 1920s. Both Northrop and Lippisch designs are much more unstable, which would make for a better fighter.

The original was built of wood. Virtually invisible to the British radar of the time. Brilliant design. Great model, thanks.

What a beautiful model. It's really interesting to see that subtle wing twist, AKA washout, near the tips. Really lovely model.
Bloody brilliant guys. Beautiful.
Ive had a thing about flying wings since the first photos after the second war I have six RC flying examples, this particular aircraft is flown beautifully reminds me of a Manta ray gracefully searching for food in the ocean , superb flight incredible control .

It’s beautiful!
I would LOVE a sport-plane version of this to fly today.
It's amazing how will it fly's, really didn't think it would handle that well. Really glides well..
Amazing Model 👍😎
Such grace!
That's an amazing bit of flying given that there are no vertical tail surfaces on this design. I have seen it said, elsewhere, that attempts to build flying wing designs post-WW2, were unsuccessful due to issues with control: the need for constant corrections that were beyond the capabilities of the average human pilots. That pure flying wing designs only became successful with computer inputs to the control surfaces. I wonder, therefore, how that RC pilot manages to control his model and how stable it is? That flight is a testament to his skill and also to the Horten brothers' design skills from almost a century ago.
Beautiful job on that!
The Germans are up to it again damn it. Nice job, it flies scale as hell!

To be fair, a lot of intersting planes were build without much computing power (the germans actually used a Zuse Computer to compute certain complex calculations for airframes and wings like the ones from the Ho 229), for example the SR-71, the U2 "Dragonlady" or really any cold war era jet fighter.

That is just Cool
Extraordinaria tecnología nacionalsocialista!
Its interesting to think where technology would be today if this model, and the ME: 262, had of come into service at the start of the war. The improvements and developments the allies would have had to make to counter the German planes.
Superb
Impressive.
