Smallest Mini Aircraft in the World Part 2

Today we are going to show you the smallest mini aircraft in the world part 2. Because you liked our first video smallest mini aircraft in the world with engine and pilot so much we decided to create a part 2. We even found some more insanely small mini aircraft this time, which will amaze you. If you like flying car or handmade vehicles that are quite special like the stuff colinfuze creates you came to the right place. All of the mini aircraft come with an engine and can be operated by a pilot. Some of the mini aircraft engine are in the ultralight aircraft category and some are even compliant with the Part 103 regulation which means you can fly those mini planes without a license in the US aviation.
Would you fly such a small airplane? Tell us in the comments below!

    I`d include yourself in those stats. The Gyrocopter is in fact one of the LEAST safe aircraft. Its current stats are 27.1 accidents/100,000 flying hours, General aviation is 1.1/100,000. I mean you can be stupid and argue if you want but those stats are combined average from the European and US air accident safety boards..you can go look them up yourself.

    That was a hatchet job on Benson at the end. They have been around forever and its actually quite safe. An autogyro is safer than a helocopter because it is autorotating all the time. If it loses the engine, it just comes down to the ground at a reasonable speed.

  • @markswinford4806

    @markswinford4806

    2 жыл бұрын

    I thought the same damn thing. An autogyro is always in autorotation (as opposed to a helicopter) and like you said, if the engine quits the air is already flowing upwards thru the rotor disk. A helicopter has to transition to autorotation mode if the engine quits, the air is flowing downward thru the rotor disk normally. The accidents that have happened for autogyros usually are related to pilot error, not the fault of the machine. But it is fun for people to make videos and hype things they are clueless about.

    The $44K price for the Sub Sonex kit is just for the airframe. That small jet engine is $60,000. The avionics are around $10,000 for radios and ADS-B. A ballistic parachute is a $5,000 option. So we’re really talking about $120,000 or so for this airplane.

    🛩👍🏼👌🏼🤔💭 I agree with you that the Gyrocopter seems like the safest option on that list. It's impressive how the autogyro effect of the main blades allows it to glide safely even if the engine fails. It's definitely a great feature for a small aircraft. However, I'm curious about your thoughts on the other mini aircraft on the list. What makes them less safe compared to the Gyrocopter in your opinion?

    You talk about the gyrocopter as if it was made by one manufacturer and never caught on. They towed unpowered versions of these behind U-Boats during WW2 so they could get someone up high to take a good look around. After the war several manufacturers made them with engines and it can be seen in one of the Bond movies (You only live twice?) . That one was the Wallace Autogiro. Note: the rotor blades are never powered. The engine at the back is purely to give it some forward motion to make the rotor blades spin in the wind and provide lift.

I have seen and known the builders and pilots of those Gyrocopters. They tell stories about their flights with incredible visibility of the ground, slow flight stability, and economical operation. Many survivors of disasters have reported being passed over by search airplanes or helicopters and were never seen because the of pilot's limited view of the ground.

    I would definitely feel more secure in an autogyro/gyrocopter, than any of these dodecacopters or tiny fixed-wing things that can stall. The Open Sky "Mowe" (seagull) wasn't really made to be a "people mover" but it would be something to get around on. Early versions were gliders, either elastic or towed launch just to get out of GE above the runway. The later model was tested that way, before flying. There are videos of all the testing they did, so they've been very methodical. They finally took it to OshKosh. Of course the one the girl in the movie rode had empty weight under 30 kg, never needed fueling, was VTOL capable, apparently had a very smart AI autopilot, made and powered with unobtanium.

    The author of this vid needs to do a bit of homework. The Benson Gyro was a GREAT and VERY SAFE Gyro. Thousands of them were made and Mr. "Benson" was the demo pilot. The ONLY problem, like in most things, is the LACK of education from the pilot. Gravity is easy to understand. Density Altitude is a bit more complicated and THAT was the killer. People stalled the rotor NOT understanding how the lift was created in different situations. Too bad too. I LOVED flying it.

    You have to remember that a gyrocopter (except dual blades (one spinning the opposite direction stack on top of each other, etc...)) has to have a counterbalance prop or it will spin around like a top.

  • @markswinford4806

    @markswinford4806

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@radicalrick9587 Actually, you are totally wrong. The engine is driving a pusher prop with no shaft power going to the main blades. A gyrocopter does not power the main blade set, the blades are free spinning, and auto-rotate. Much like a maple leaf falling from a tree, which is auto-rotation as well. Proof of what I say is shown right in the video, where the pilots are hand rotating the blades, to get them to start moving. This is prior to "dragging the runway" to get the blades spinning even faster. Once in the air, the pusher prop keeps the blades spinning (overcoming their inherent drag). A helicopter needs a tail rotor since the engine puts torque to the main blades, and the main blades in turn would try to spin the helicopter itself.

Reducing size in turbines greatly reduces its efficiency. Why an 'A' type of rudder is not used in machines such as 'Wilkex Subsonex'? Contrarily to Beechcraft 'Bonanza' 'V' tail, it would induce roll in right sense when banking. The Bugatti airplane that crashed because of a 'flat 8' knot in aileron cables was arranged this way.
