Study Hall: Reportage Drawing

Ойын-сауық

Do you need a meaningful place, or a spectacular event to record an interesting story in your sketchbook? You don't. Even going out for a coffee can be very interesting when you look through the eyes of a reportage artist.
Each week, SketchbookSkool co-founders Danny Gregory and Koosje Koene alternate doing the homework assignment from our kourse, "Storytelling".

I enjoyed watching how your brain went around the shapes and seeing the environment emerge. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow and the wait will be long. I am going to try this.

Thank you. I really enjoy how you walk us through the drawing process. I certainly want to do the reportage on my next trip soon.

It was great just to hear you chat about your trip and then see it unfold before my eyes. Gives me courage to step out tomorrow and head downtown with my sketchbook and give it a try. Your characters are just the best. That will be a challenge, but one I am happy to take up. Sending warm greetings from chilly Kansas, Koosje.

Cool video...:) Love the loose kind of drawing. Can I ask what kind of waterproof ink you are using in your sailer fountain pen?

Thanks for the response. Ha, I've got this ink as well, got two Preppy's. But is it safe to use in other fountain pens? Or do you clean your pens ?weekly?

You can use it in fountain pens. Just every so often when I run out of ink, I soak my pen in water for a few hours. I am not an expert on this, I think you can find more info if you browse online a little. Koosje.

I am using the waterproof ink Super 5. Berlin Urban sketchers told me, they use it in one pen since 4-5 years without any problems.

What fountain pen and ink did you use? Because the ink in fountain pen is not waterproof for most of the time.

A Sailor fountain pen with bended nib, and the pink one is a Lamy Safari. Both can be filled with a converter instead of cartridges, which you can fill with waterproof ink is Platinum Carbon ink.
