Please talk about skinny shaming. As someone who has been skinny shamed, it's an important discussion to be had. I'm 40 with 2 little children, SE Asian, and just hit what people keep saying is the "ideal weight" for my height post 2 kids. I'm 5'4, and 125 lbs. That's technically 5 lbs. over, but I still get skinny shamed because everyone around me is bigger. The weight is also on my middle, which makes me disproportioned. And I only gained it after having my last child--she's 2--and hitting that metabolic slowdown in your late 30s. I'm trying to get back to being fit, but some people think that's crazy because that would mean being "thin". Even though, post 2 kids, and older I will never be the same size I was at 23 again, and that's ok. But some people think going back to my natural body shape equals an eating disorder, even though I ate enough for 2 people up until a year ago. I'm saying this because skinny shaming doesn't end. People need to know that some girls are naturally thinner, and that's also ok. That it's irritating to see posters saying real women have curves when you're reed thin. Or being asked where your boobs are, or when the sales clerk seems offended when you say the small or extra small from a particular store is a little big, because they may be small but they're not petite. Or being forced to eat, or asked if you have an eating disorder. We get made fun of too. And it doesn't make it sting less because majority of models happen to be thin. (And very tall, and unique looking.) This was true at 16, and still true at 40. People come in all sizes, and you don't need to pit sizes against each other just to make yourself feel better.

apple.cheeks This happened a while back so I can’t say for sure if it made any sounds, I would plug it in once in a while to check it it worked. I now use small usb flash drives, one for pics and another for high res files they still work even after years of having them. Sorry for the late reply!

17:18 i watched the entire video wondering what you were doing for art business and then i was like oh lol i guess thats it. i havent started my art shop yet, so im literally watching everyones channel i dont know where to start. those stickers are cool though, really high quality. edit: I TOTALLY agree about not pleasing everyone. its literally only until after youtube that i realized that someone out there probably thinks your the coolest person, and that middle school and high school are trash anyway. always love everyone no matter what and care about people, cuz thats rare these days. and when ppl start raining on your parade, its more of a matter of someone being sad they made all the wrong decisions and cant vent in this corporate world.

Yeah I do a little of selling merch and a little of freelance projects and commissions for clients! Honestly, the best way to start is literally by going in not knowing what you're doing and slowly figuring things out bit by bit. Literally make a product, photograph it, list it, and see what you can do to market it! I try to see everyone positively, but life does get in the way most times. Everyone's just trying stay alive in this sad world LOL

@@apple.cheeks yes!omg thats what im doing now. im literally working on my stuff while watching haha . im starting on my first product. my stuff is a little bit more on the mech and ridley scott alien/venom/halo inspired though. its kinda a departure from the popular stuff on etsy haha. Will do! i am taking pics of stuff to work on, instead of scanning them in cuz i dont have the best scanner. then ill be sure to market through youtube ( i learned a little bit of stuff from running ads for the first time this year) this is true. everyone so bad, especially during this insane time with all the horrible and scary things going on. one day it will be positive though, and im praying it happens on a good note for you. for me, i literally went through really horrible years and found out alot of stuff about people i care about that made me kinda depressed (people i know making a lot of mistakes and then justifying it with blaming the world and how unfair it is). i also went through really bad physical pain. at the end of it all, i realized all i really wanted to do this whole time was spend time with my friends, and being in pain and not going outside taught me that. and i dont take my later college years for granted when i took time to see everyone. years before that, i went through alot. but now i realized that the people who mistreated me were actually lost the whole time. some ended up doing things they regret, some have actually passed away, and others even i realized they had their own hells they were living. i know that was a rant, but i just wanted to say I hope things go well, and that people will keep doing bad things and its their own loss. and even now, i see your channel and how far you have gone in your artistic journey and i wont lie, i really look up to it all. you might not see it, but alot of people think all of your stuff and body of work is really cool. we just cant tell you in person. heck i cant even get out of my house on really bad days lol i cant tell anyone anything XD. so yeah keep your head up, your alot more than you think. and best of luck in everything, stay happy. and if not, well theres always art, at least thats how i do it lol. take care. ps. i probably wont be going into this deep stuff next time, dont worry lol

And yeah skinny shaming isn't nearly talked about as much, I hope maybe I can talk about it more one day.. ❤️

Something that helps me with working on a new sketchbook page is to start working on a piece of scrap paper first, kind of doodle and just warm up that way, or even loosely (LOOSELY) sketch out what i might want to put on the actual sketch before I move to that!!!!! ............although i'm not sure if this is good advice, because honestly i just end up doing a lot of little tiny doodles. but better than nothing??

Poor hard drive! I understand what you mean by recording certain things multiple times. I feel the same way when I have to re-record something... Just don't have the same energy and emotion as the first time. Art work is super cute as always!

I use seagate hard drives but they are very sensitive. A single drop will damage them, the last one I bought, I got a warranty with it

Oh my gosh, I’m only at the beginning of the video, but I feel so so bad for you! If nobody has suggested it already, sign up for Google drive! You can get a certain amount of storage for free, or a huge amount for like $100 a year. It’s basically cloud storage so you never ever have to worry about a hardware failure ever again. You can add it to your computer through windows or Mac explorer so it acts just like a normal file location, but you can access it from any device you choose and you’re guaranteed to never lose anything.💗💗💗💗

Aww man! I have a similar hard drive! When I bought it though the sales guy convinced me to buy a data protection plan for it. If anything happens I can send it in for data retrieval at no extra cost. I do something similar for my Instagram. I sometimes stage my sketchbook on my desk before I got to bed and then take pictures of it in the morning before I go to work and upload them the next day in the morning.

Honestly, at first I went into my day job thinking that I'd just work there to pay off my student loans and then fully immerse myself in my freelance illustration. But the more I worked my job, the more I wanted to see the company grow and take off. Being fully freelance and starting my own business selling my merch would be my ultimate dream, but as for now, I don't mind working a job. I love the aspect of collaboration, which I won't be able to have as much if I were freelance.

@@apple.cheeks i had one too and they're not actually hard to fix yourself if all thats broken is the usb reader inside you take it out of the casing and use a sata usb cable which are about £4 to recover your files. although i would suggest getting a new one. i got a better one but i was happy to e able to recover my old photos on the broken harddrive lol

oh no that sucks! i'm sorry that you lost the footage to vlog 16 :'( i admire your tenacity in balancing a 9 to 5 with your freelance work while also having time for friends, family and yourself. i actually thought your etsy store was your full time job so it was really interesting to find it out wasn't. i would love to do something similiar like yourself in the future so it's fun to watch art youtubers who is already in the game and see how they do for themselves. i hope you take care of yourself

I quite like sarcastic you alongside any other ‘you’ you feel like. So painful to lose that footage. I’ve had hard drive fails and near misses but I still haven’t learned properly to do backups... living life on the edge. I do tend to keep any vlog footage on the camera SD card whilst I’m still editing that vlog, then once it’s edited and uploaded I’ll delete it.

They said they have to take apart the hard drive in a dust free zone or something to retrieve it, I'm not quite sure exactly how it goes!
