you know for real that this is utterly bullshit? we can make poems and happy quotes for ever about getting there but in the real world artists and super talented ones struggling to find a job and its been years. I don't represent all of them but also I know many many artists who plus talent are pouring hours and hours of hard work in every aspect but still no hiring.

Can't really get there if you work a lot but have almost no talent - it ain't easy. But she's right it's the long hours sometimes. Other times it's pure talent - i've seen it happen live. Sometimes it's just showing up, and often most importantly building friendly relationships with some clients. I say stop telling your family members or friends that their work is ''omg it's awesome!!'' when it's not. It's ok to be honest sometimes and still encourage people. There's a crazy common habit these days of social media just never wanting to say the truth if it's not positive. And yea i know, my work 'sucks hahaa

Well, it's more accurate to say that if you don't work, you're 100% sure not to get anywhere. But you can work as much as you want, and have talent, it won't matter if you can't live from it. And that's the reality : there are gems and geniuses out there, that will die unknown. Otherwise there would be much mort artists, if you consider we are 7+billions people.

@@thoughts2536 That's not her point. She's saying that many very talented artists assume they will find a career and success simply because they are talented. The reality is, the world is FILLED with talented people in every field. Having talent is not the same as having a disciplined work ethic or dogged persistence. The ones who do manage to establish careers in their fields are those who apply themselves to working all the time and who keep trying to get work, even in the face of difficulty. She doesn't say a successful career will be guaranteed or automatic to anyone, but that an artist who wants and hopes to have a successful career must be persistent and work hard to create even the possibility of a viable career.
