Stuck nut on front shock absorber lower stud

If the threads on the bottom of the front shock absorber are rusty, getting the nut off is a real pain due to difficult access.

What a struggle. May have been advantageous to wire brush the exposed threads and hit it with penetrating oil a few days before starting at it.

Why didn’t you consider heating it?

if they dont come loose straight away chop em with a recip saw or anything else you can chop em with i normally chip em down and weld a new bolt on to solve the problem plenty of anti seize when putting back together its the only way ive found to work without having to mess around for hours

Penetrating oil the day before and grip the base of the shock with stilsons.

You could have cut the nut by grinding it's side with a die grinder. Also that strap wrench could be repaired by an old Serpentine belt . The design of how the front shocks are mounted is not good at all.
