    In 1980 I flew into Moscow on their national airline. As we were getting ready to land the crew was giving information on landing . I didn't pay attention but I should have. As we hit the ground the cowling over the engine poped up. I panicked thinking we were crashing. My seat mate said that was how the slow the plane. What an adventure.

    Hi Josh! The Nordwind airline was created purely to fly tourists to mass travel destinations like Antalya, Hurgada and Sharm in Egypt. It means old aircrafts, economy product, very basic service. They expanded a bit to more scheduled flights but remain the same low-quality airline. You can very comfortably fly via Russia on Aeroflot and S7. Aeroflot is offering an amazing service. IN business there are the best on medium-haul flights with Bollinger champagne, amenity kits even on 3 hour flights, and great food and drinks. In Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow, there are several great hotels like Radisson, Sheraton and Novotel.

  • @yurikozhokin8348

    @yurikozhokin8348

    As a Russian traveler I would sign under every word here. Aeroflot is by far the best. Its subsidiaries Rossiya and Pobeda are solid too, but more on the cheaper end, especially the later. And then there is S7 also reliable and predictable airline. Others are a shot in the dark.

    Globespan were quite a good Scottish airline, they went bust due to cash flow problems, seem to remember they were owed a lot of cash from a Visa clearing company that handled there ticket transactions, and the owner of the visa company, im sure was a turkish cypriot, and he disappeared over to the turkish end of cyprus, and so did most of his companies cash. Globespan went bust and sold off their aircraft to pay there debts, sad as they were the Scottish Jet2

    Hey Josh I know el al has that anti missile system but I’m not sure about Nordwind. Either way that’s impressive to avoid a missile in a commercial aircraft!

    If you are good and lucky , you put the plane in a steep dive and trick the missal into trying to intercept you and then pull up and loose it ,Or dump chaff , drop flairs and jam it's radar as you pray and piss .

    Sad you went through all that. You’d think in 2021 these gaps would not be there but here we are. Also I really think Airports need to be more people friendly. Too much walking to get from one gate to another.

    Great vid Josh! I'd love to fly on that Rossiya Airlines bird, hope you get a chance to fly and review one of these days. How confusing, there is Pegasus Airlines/Flypgs and now there is Pegasfly. I think I flew Globespan charter flight back in the day from Glasgow to Orlando on a 757. Nice to see Berlin has a new Airport. An upcoming tour Josh? Where is everyone hoping to travel to this year? At the moment all flights out of the UK are illegal up until 17th May. Here's to better days and for us all to be able to travel again. Stay safe.

    I also had adventures in Moscow airport but more with a solider giving me a hard time at security. the airport was under construction and I was happy not to get in trouble. Last time on way out o immigration they thought I was ex military or something and got more questions leaving then entering Russia. Da!

    Hi Josh , about the clapping, in the Middle East Airlines (Lebanon), they also claps. Weirdly, it never happened the 2 times that you went with this airline. I am a new subscriber and I'm appreciating all your videos. Hope ill be also making the same thing as you are now doing.

    Some Airlines and private operators , such as El-Al do have countermeasure systems as an add on however it is not common. As far as I'm aware, there's no anti-missile system on airliners. The Closest thing is maybe TCAS but it wouldn't work as its meant for traffic avoidance, and requires both aircraft to carry a TCAS system.

    FedEx had such systems but the problem is that they are controlled technology so flying outside of the US with these is a problem since ground crew basically need clearance to work on the plane.

    Interesting and entertaining as always! One thing I have been meaning to ask... when you travel in economy you often seem to sit at the back of the plane. Is there any specific reason for this preference?
