  • @Turps450

    @Turps450

    7 жыл бұрын

    He really wanted to do the deadlift meet. The training for it specifically was extremely draining and demanding (pulling such high amounts of weights frequently). This left no time for Strongman training, which is his main goal. He decided to drop the deadlift meet and focus on solely Strongman. He also was not a fan of being able to use a deadlift suit. He wanted it to be raw (just belt and straps).

    Its opposite actually. Very big strong people are often very gentle, they know nobody is a threat. Humans sees hight as a threat, thats just how we are programmed and the same goes for dogs for example. U know when small dogs seem defensive and angry its because they are small and gotta compensate for their hight. Short people can often seem more defensive and easier agitated.

Brian, on the other hand, seems like a good example of someone at the top who still manages to put himself ahead of his legacy. He'd actually be pretty cool to meet in person.

If it were true than in any combat sports they would all be huge. The polish guy who won the world's strongest man competition more times than anyone went to MMA and he occasionally loses. So jealous. I'll let you know I've squatted 630lbs and benched 407 at a body weight of 235 RAW in front of National Judges at the USAPL and NASA finals in Oklahoma and I have never taken so much as a whey Protein shake during training. My training partners Ogdin and Nathaniel were beasts compared to me too. Nathaniel was my weight and beat me at nationals with a Raw squat of 750lbs and Ogdin was a 198lbs category lifter and had a Raw Deadlift of 720lbs with no shoes. Don't tell me there are not exceptional people in this world. Do you Fucking Research. Freaks do exist. I am one of them. I and my 2 friends did not even have access to Steroids, We went to a dinky little college in west texas, We ate at Double dave's pizza, drank beer at bars, consumed McDonalds, Arby\'s and Whataburger and burger king, NO protein , no pre workout,. Just straight work We all posted 1600+ lbs totals at Nationals that year, ON Pizza, Bugers, Beer, and hard work.

    fit is very very situational/specific. CFitters are the fittest humans on the planet? BULLSHIT Strongmen claiming to be strongest is kinda fair, although weight lifters, and power lifters are also in the mix (They are demonstrably, weights don't lie) Sprinters are the fastest runners in the world, demonstrably Crossfitters claiming to be the fittest is kinda ridiculous, fit for what? fit for crossfit. Just like a triathlete, table tennis player, and UFC figher is for his sport Ben Smith(and he's a good athlete too not hating on him) is the CROSS-FITTEST man in the world. AND THAT'S IT.

  • @1tuffgeek

    Cfitters are constantly changing the dynamic and coming up with unique ways to test their body, being fit and in shape means you can excel at any "Specific or Unique situation" thats why you never see these guys doing the same thing during a competition because its suppose to be representation of ones athletic ability and fitness ability to overcome any obstacle. Who's the fittest in the world then? Olympians? Olympians train for their ONE sport which is VERY specific, you could argue triathletes are the fittest in the world but even their sport only focuses on 3 events that ANY individual could train for and can get better at. The unpredictability you get with crossfit is why they are some of the most fittest people of this earth. I'm not a crossfitter but you bet your ass I'm going to give respect where respect is due.

    Daniel Holley You make a good point. The term "athletic" and "athlete" may carry different connotations here. Ben seems more athletic to me... a wide variety of capabilities and limitations that come in capacity, but not kind. Brian would be the specialist athlete between the two because he excels so much at one thing. If I had to pick between theories of fitness... at middle age, rocking family commitments... I'd choose the discipline that keeps me playing soccer and climbing jungle gyms with my kids. Brian is stronger than 10 of me ever will be... but I don't understand why anyone seems so happy about not being able to jump, run, or get off the ground.

    Brian Shaw is a class act. He's literally the biggest man on the planet, yet I've seen guys a quarter of his size think they're better and stronger men. His heart is all within his work ethic.

    How could 4200 people dislike this video oh, obviously they don't have a clue what they're talking about or what they're watching. It's rare that you ever see a strong man go up against one of the world's fittest men.

    Everyone who tries to give Brian crap because he is on steroids; this guys puts his body on the line doing things that a normal person wouldn't do because he loves it, that's why I like watching him. I would never eat as much as he does and put into my body what he does, but seeing what his body is capable of and watching how humble he is about it is what makes him so awesome.

    Seemed odd that Shaw said he was doing this with a competition a couple weeks away. Would have been nice if they could have done it when they were both off season and more open to some actual cross training and insight as to how beneficial they found what the other person was using and how they may change up their routine after the exchange.
