Love how your daughter loves soft 🧶. Gotta train them young. That dress hack you knitted was terrific. Love how you went to the Queen B's concert. Glad your eye is feeling better. We have a coffee table that opens up and back with an accordion like hinge. Once it was stuck b/c of my washi tape container; its top lip got stuck. I couldn't unstuck it so I went to the other side of the table and pushed it forward to get it unstuck. I forgot the table top springs in that direction and it hit me right in the bridge of my nose. I swore I saw 🌠 like in the cartoons 🤣.

Hello from Canada as well! I am in Toronto! Love the way your elisabeth blouse looks! I originally wanted to make it tight fitting but after seeing yours I kind of want to make it baggy!!

Another great podcast! Congrats on your wedding anniversary; we too just celebrated ours (but with 35 extra years than you). What a clever way to fix the collar on the Elisabeth blouse - I would have never thought of that solution! Enjoy Knit City tomorrow! I was excited to hear you say it will be in Calgary next year as we are in the NWT, so getting to Alberta is much easier, especially now that I can fly south to Yellowknife and then direct to Calgary from there. I hope to see you at Knit City 2024! 😊

I live for my toddler’s nap time too! Already dreading the day she drops her nap 😭 That midday break is so important. Also, I love your Elizabeth blouse. If you’re looking to get rid of your second cone I’d happily buy it from you 😊 Fellow Canadian here!

I miss nap time. I get a little more knitting at night because she goes to bed earlier now but it's just not the same. I'll hold on to the cone a little longer in case I am able to soften up myblouse; otherwise, I'll be in touch.

Anna from apt.atelier mentioned in a video a while ago, how she literally shaved her lettlopi sweater, removing the longer woollen hairs that prick when wearing the garment. If I remember correctly the sweater softened up significantly for her. It‘s her striped aros sweater. Ever since she first mentioned that, I have kept that in the back of mind to rescue a scratchy sweater 😅

Great podcast! Your Audrey Dress- wow! I love that you've used yarn from Custom Woolen Mills for your Elizabeth Blouse, Canadian wooly goodness. I'm currently knitting with their Mule Spinner 2 ply from them and I find it to be a rustic dream. 🧶🧶🧶

Sometimes all a scratchy wool needs is a good soak in with vinegar and a little dish soap. Especially if the roughness is from spinning oils in the yarn, which is likely if it comes on a cone. Sometimes, good old hair conditioner can do the trick, or lanolin. The blouse looks lovely, I hope you find a solution that makes it work for you!

I’ve never considered the Friday tee but I love the look of yours. Great colour choices. You’re also the second I’ve seen with a sake cardigan and I want to make one so bad but that yarn is sold out everywhere 😢😢

I had to keep my eye out for Sake yarn for months before my LYS restocked it. Not sure where you're located, but The Twisted Purl in Armstrong, BC has it in stock. This shop is very close to my hometown 🙂 the-twisted-purl-yarn-studio.mybigcommerce.com/madara-updating/

Hi from North Vancouver! I always love seeing your projects. The Audrey dress is stunning! Look at Filcolana Tila (I order from Galt House of Yarn). They have two slightly different camel colours. Also, I find that one is the softest mohair and I tried a few. Softer than KFO. I'll be at KnitCity all Saturday. Going to run over to say hi if I spot you 😊

Hi! Thanks for the tip, will check out Tilia if I don't find anything at Knit City. I'll be doing a mad dash right at opening on Saturday as I have a workshop at 10am, but will be back in the marketplace afterwards. I hope we cross paths!

Your Elizabeth blouse is beautiful - I had not really considered making it, but yours turned out so well I may consider it. To soften the blouse, have you tried soaking in hair conditioner(it is hair). You could also purchase woolwash like eucalan which has lanolin in it to soften the fiber.

  • @stringthingsbymel

Thank you! I do have eucalan and used that for the wash and block but I'm willing to try soaking it again (probably for longer). Another person suggested vinegar and dish soap so I may try that too.

thank you for showing some superwash yarns because there are those of us that like the no itch factor and the giftability of it. There seems to be a lot of "shaming" of sw yarns. There are so many projects and so many yarns and if we can find a good marriage we're bound to have a great garment. I love your sibling for a sibling sweater color choice. Can't wait for the pattern release because that shoulder detail is very special. Great podcast

Thanks so much for watching! When I first started knitting I didn't buy sw because I was confused about the information out there; there were strong opinions for/against. I am glad I took the chance and have enjoyed using sw.
