Welcome to our channel. All the weapon systems are like books. They tell us their stories. The Weapon Detective investigates these books, reads between the lines, analyses, and tells the untold. At the dawn of the Second Cold War, the fruits of new projects give us clues about the future. But current weapon systems also have their own stories. You can find in our videos technical information, historical backgrounds, what happened during the development processes, combat experience and political projection. Let's investigate the weapons together when the Second Cold War is rising.

I absolutely adore this ship class. It symbolises a very new and smart approach to Amphibious warfare. I wish the Indian Navy would buy at least 300 of the marvellous ships, for Amphibious Ops.

Swedish military exports are often focused on low cost of ownership, so is this boat. But is the depth really true? That is great in the shallow archipelago!

No reason it shouldn't be accurate. 0.8 m is normal for a hull of this size and type. Note that it has water jet propulsion, so there is no propellers or rudder protruding below the hull itself.

Well, apart from the royal ship Vasa... That one was more than a little embarassing. But hey, our kings learned to let the ship-builders do their thing without royal interference, as the divine privilege of kings doesn't overrule the natural laws set down by God, and we got a cool museum out of it four centuries later, so... All's well that ends well!

Given Norways navy's hisrtory of running themselves aground i would say it was a pragmatic decision. But hey their navy is only about 120 years of age. Swedens navy in contrast did instead build ships who capsized after just a few shiplenghts (HMS Vasa). Or had ships decide to blowthemselves up (HMS Kronan) But then again that was back in the 16th and 17th century.

Probably due to reputation, and a more successful export record. Strb-90 is essentially a "trend-setter" that most other boats of a similar category measure against. Nothing wrong with the M18 but it is essentially competing against a very proven platform with a decent track record. In regards to the Eurofighter replenishment, many air-forces still operate the Eurofighter, and don't have the money or need to replace them fully yet. A next-gen fighter (that isn't F-35 or some equivalent) isn't likely to come onto the market for at least several decades, so for now, it's just cheaper to keep the existing fleets flying by keeping production going. Think of it as a stop-gap until they can eventually move towards a more advanced fighter to replace it, which for many countries who aren't the global big shots (USA, Russia, China, India) it will be a (painfully) expensive, long-term, multinational collaboration that's going to take awhile.
