Street Legal Jeep Beadlock Wheels - How to Mount Rock Monsters

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This time on the AutoEdits KZread channel... I'll show you how to mount these cool Hutchinson Rock Monster bead lock wheels for the Jeep Wrangler JKU that I'm building up for my buddy Joe onto some 37" Milestar Patagonia MT tires.
It's easier than I thought it would be and they look fantastic on the Jeep.

Been running rock monsters for 5 years .Great beadlocks I can run down to 5 psi and not worry about blowing the inner bead out in snow use about 8 psi in the rocks. That capability gives you the same foot print as running a bigger tire aired down to 10 or 12. So saves weight in that aspect. Great video.

I’m pretty sure that Hutchinson is the wheel contractor supplier for the humvee. The design is identical. If you coat the o ring with a coat of wheel bearing grease it has less chance of slipping out of the grove, and lessens the chance of pinching the seal.

His jeep came out really nice Jason . Good job my friend . Love your mustang too , I miss the thumpty thump of a nice cam in a V8 ... well Ford V8 , since I'm a ford guy too and have had many mustangs and back in 1977 I bought a new Ford 1/2 ton truck with a 351 and proceeded to tear it apart and built a truck that ran pretty well consistent 11 second times . It was kinda fun because I street raced and tracked raced it and I would be like wanna run that truck over there for a couple hundred dollars . lol. Poor unsuspecting guys didn't know what the heck happened until they were paying me when it was said and done. LOl. I ended up getting a reputation after a while and people wouldn't race me anymore for money. Lol . It was fun while it lasted . This was in California in the Southbay area and in surrounding areas as well as Orange County raceway . Take care and looking forward to your next video Jason.

Its crazy how much larger the 38's on yours look. Really love the look of 8 lug axles and those wheels. Both Jeeps look great, wish I had tons and beadlocks on mine (hopefully soon). Keep in mind that for a very long time people had air compressors running on their rigs because air lockers were the only selectable option available. I had ARB's on my old CJ and they worked great, they still seem to be the beefiest selectable locker available. Not that my electrical stuff on my JK has gone south yet but I know several people who have had the electronic lockers and/or sway bar fail on them. I believe there are two companies that make air systems to replace the electric sway bar motor for less than Jeep sells the replacement for and have had much better luck with them.

Ok I know posted weights are not always accurate but something is off. Your 38+fmanx is 111 which is close to the posted 82lb for tire and 33lb I see listed for the rim. The 37 is listed at 72lb and the 8lug rock monster is listed at 42lb. But at the 129lb weight that would mean the rim actually weights close to 57lbs!

Jason, in CA beadlocks are legal to drive on and off the road. When looking up CA vehicular codes it doesn't mention anything that beadlocks are illegal. Technically CHP can not give you a ticket for beadlocks. Now, Dept of Transportation has not beadlocks are not approved to be safe on the streets due to the maintenance required. Back to CHP giving tickets for beadlocks. Since they not safe to drive and there is a CA rule in the VEHICULAR Code book regarding operation unsafe vehicles. That's how CHP or local police officers get you. Beadlocks are not illegal!

Some wheels are sold with a "off highway use only" because they require a certain amount of maintenance and don't have DOT certification. It doesn't mean they aren't every bit as strong or stronger... just not technically approved by the government for street use.

They are your problem, like those weird teenager clothes that are tolerated by their parents but not aprooved.
