    i have ran normal wheels and bead lock wheels. i honestly have never popped a bead running 10 psi on my jeep with a normal wheel. the tire shops are less butt hurt around here when you need something, and I carry the means to re-seat the tires in the field if I ever de-beaded a tire. when i had bead locks on my JK, they were a massive PITA to balance, and are so heavy it affected the braking of the jeep.

    Only bead locks for me. A couple friends have the Hutchinson rims and hate them. Plenty of regular bead locks to choose from. Regular wheels are fine for your mall crawlers and lite off road. Enjoy whatever fits you.

    You are correct sir, its a "wheel". A rim is a part of the wheel that keeps the rubber from sliding off the edge of the wheel so it can hold air.

    I have 'fake' beadlocks on mine - thought they were dumb when I bought the jeep with them but the way they are set up are that the fake ring functions as a rock ring (so my valve stem is incredibly well protected). I air down to 12-15 psi in my milestar pats and I've never heard of anyone popping a bead with my use case (light-med rock crawling and general trail riding) so I don't really have use for stepping up to beadlocks. However some of my friends are doing med-hard trails and they definitely need them for that because I've seen plenty of popped beads, especially with certain brands

    You forgot to mention most bead lock wheels are not DOT approved. And that little fact can get expensive if you get stopped. Hutchinson Rock Monsters are one of the only bead locks that are. Plus bead lock wheels are heavy which is something you have to consider. Method seems to me to be on the right track for a all-around street legal wheel that's great for off roading. With there trail series wheels.....You might want to check them out.....I've been impressed by mine. and no Method didn't pay me I was just looking for lighter alternatives to bead locks....

    beadlock prevent the tyre to go out from the rim when you are turning rigth or left all the weigth of the vehicule is on the outer side of the vehicule, so we dispose beadlock only this side. There is no chance the wheel will go out of his rim from the inner. If u dont have beadlock and run deflated tyre we advise to always drive slow especially in virage to avoid the tyre going off..

  • @jdofmemi

    @jdofmemi

    There is more force on the outer bead when turning. The wheel on the inside is usually just following, not doing nearly as much of the work of forcing the vehicle to turn like the outer one is. Hopefully this helps you understand. That's not to say you can't loose an inner bead, but it is extremely rare.
