Nope, but I think anything can look complicated when you haven’t experienced it. I mean when I look at videos of the app and website for the 18kPV, THAT looks complicated to me. Kinda ironic because the install is so simple.

Thanks for the video very clear and straightforward, I am still on 498, but I am nervous to update it to 508 ... maybe I will do it on Monday when the installer is only a phone call away :) Do you think upgrading from 498 is worth it?

@@AdamDeLay07 I hear you... But my worry is that one day I will need version 671 or whatever and going from 498 to that would be too much of a jump. Basically I don't like drifting too far away... But maybe it is a mentality I need to change if I want to go off grid.

@@Siminfrance Yeah, ultimately it's up to you. I know I went from 502 to 508 with no issues at all (except my screen recorder didn't work, so I had to do it all over...😁)

Interesting, but everybody keeps telling me there’s a Mac version or an apple version and I can’t seem to find it? I’ve been told somebody was going to do a video on it, and they never did. I’m not sure if there even is one available or ever made but companies keep telling me just go on the Victron site and it’s there? The only thing I see is a file with EXE - that’s a Microsoft not Apple! And I’m not talking about VictronConnect app on the phone. Anyway, I like the video. 🖖

You should be able to go to the Mac App Store and search for "Victron Connect". apps.apple.com/us/app/victronconnect/id1084677271?mt=12 Depending on the device you're trying to configure, you can configure most aspects of Victron devices. I thought I heard that Victron is trying to migrate everything over to Victron Connect instead of all the different apps they have on their website. The only thing that's not possible as of yet is MultiPlus assistants.

@@AdamDeLay07 Thanks Adam but I clearly stated that it’s not VictronConnect! I already have that, and it’s useless as far as the inverter goes. I can switch the amps on the second generator connection on the inverter, but nothing else. 🖖

@@simon359 You mentioned Victron Connect on the phone. The same app gets loaded on a Mac. Unfortunately, unless you have the Mark3 to USB device, you won’t be able to do anything with the inverters. To my knowledge, that’s the only way to program the inverters on a Mac.

The Mac can run Ve Config but you need a program like parallels to do it. I did a video a few years ago that provided information how to use a free program called WINE to be able to run it but the OS system updates on the make killed it temporarily. There has been some updates so I believe there is another free workaround. But it was possible.

@@PanelsUpSolar I don’t know why Victron can’t make a program for Mac? There has got to be enough users, because it’s one of the main operating systems. A lot of people don’t want to learn windows, don’t want to buy extra software and try to figure out how to use it just so they can change their settings. I can understand they’re thinking, that most people will use windows, but I hate windows, and will never use it for anything. I have used Apple all my life, which I’m 66 now. 🖖

Hey Adam, How do you open .rvms files once the update has been done? my window laptop doesn't support these files. Is there a hack around this? My multiplus seems updated, but because I can't open the rvms file to merge it, I cannot upload it and finish the process and now the Multiplus is not working.

You have to install VE Configure from Victron to open the .rvms files. It's packaged inside the "VE Configuration tools for VE.Bus Products" download. www.victronenergy.com/support-and-downloads/software

My cerbo GX show most of the time as offline. All the settings are correct but show a code of 155 for connection. VRM portal work on and off not sure why the is so buggy.

If the cerbo isn't connected to the internet (or it has a bad connection), you won't be able to see any live data in the VRM. Are you using WiFi to connect your cerbo to the internet or an ethernet cable?
