My first light was a streamlight 2L in 2013. I accidentally did the 10 tap thing and set it to low only. I didnt know it was progammable and thought i dropped it and broke it. So i spent the next few weeks throwing it against stuff and beating on it to "un break" what i did. Later a looked up the 10 tap and set it back. I still have that light today and it still works, streamlight makes tanks

One thing people don't talk about on this flashlight is that in a pinch you can also utilize AAA batteries and they run for a pretty long time. So in actuality this is a Tri fuel light.

I’d only use aa & aaa’s in it in an emergency, I’ve heard stories of aa’s wearing the internal spring making it so cr123’s no longer make contact. Plus, aa alkaline run times suck and cr12’s are cheaper than aa lithiums.
@PewLand

@@scottburns5242 I've had that issue before, if you take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the + spring up it fixes the issue indefinitely. Once the spring tension on the "plunger" inside loosens up it doesn't become an issue anymore.

AAA work in it too.
AAA battery should work in it as well.
Absolutely agree on the importance of a recessed button. One too many times have I drained a battery and not known it until I needed to use the light. The dual fuel option is also nice. Options are always good as you might not be able to find a CR123 but you can find a AA just about anywhere.
Thank you for the review, great format as always! This one isn't one that I feel I need, but I enjoy looking at the different options available.
Been using this light for over a year. I can vouch for it. Solid light.
Fantastic light! Especially for the price at this time. I like the AA lithium runtimes, something to consider as a perfect get home bag light.

I've dropped one of these from at least 7 feet onto a concrete floor multiple times.. it's helped me personally inspect at least 850 cargo containers over the last year.. damn near unbreakable piece of kit.. and if a longshoreman can't break it, you probably won't either.
I have had one for two years and it is a great flashlight and hands down my favorite and my edc
Ive had this light for years its a beast and the option of either battery is a plus i do keep the cr123 for output but would use a AA if needed

Its very good for keeping in the glove compartment with a cr123a, it won't leak and I believe it has no standby drain. and double a's, well, you can find them anywhere.
Good review! I own the 1L-AA. It’s a great EDC and won’t break the bank, well worth it.
They don't say it will do it, but mine runs on a single AAA battery as well, if you are careful.

This light has been part of my every day carry for the last two years or so after carrying the protac 2L for about 3 years before that. The 1L is my favorite light that I own because it ticks most of the boxes, and mine tail stands fine. I own several olights, Fenix, and nite core lights, but I keep coming back to the 1L. If only streamlight made it rechargeable and had a 0.5 or 1 lumen extra low mode, it would be my ideal light.

Would love to see you review Sunwayman. I have a couple and have been running them for about 4 years now. Most are also dual fuel wich is the reason I first purchsed myself 👍 Love the Channel! Keep up the Great work.

I love your points on what makes a tactical flashlight and the duel fuel option is great. Would you compare this to a PD25 or a Thrunite of even price? And do you really need 500 for self defense, I think 350 lumens will do. My M1T raider comes on in my pocket all the time.

If its for blinding someone candela is more important than lumen.
Have they fixed the issue where you use a battery that’s aa then use a cr123 battery and the spring doesn’t extend? I hear it’s a common problem.
That Streamlight is "Stoking Hot".... 😂 Great Video 👍👍
I've had mine and I carried it every day for at least four or five years, and I never knew it could take AAA until recent, I lost the clip for it when I first got it, would anyone know where I could get another clip for it!
Is there another light that runs on 2-aa or 3-cr123? Or maybe even 4- aa or 6-cr123? I love the option of using aa or cr123

I'm sure there are plenty that run on those battery options. I have a Smith and Wesson that runs on 3 cr123 batteries. 1115 lumens on high, low mode and strobe mode.
in my opinion an excellent edc or secondary light.

Does 14500 can power this light?
They run also on 16340 but because of the 3.7V low is as bright as high. Keeppower offer a 16340ie that has 3V like the normal CR123.
Will it take RCR123 batteries?

Kyle Robinson mines just did. I’ve been running it for years and finally noticed the LED flickering with a fresh batt. Finally died the other day.
This light is Streamlight's best product. I own a few and carry one every day. Improvements? Meh, it'd be nice, in theory, to find some way to squeeze in a "night reading low" mode of 1 lumen or less. But the added complexity might disrupt the useful simplicity of this light.
I have had 2 of these lights fail on me. The first one's problem was that it stopped functioning with CR123 batteries. They sent me a replacement in may and now the replacement will stop working and then later turn on. Not sure if the tailcap switch or the head is going out. I got i straightened out with their service department after talking to the department manager Mark Carson. If you have a problem with your streamlight product I would highly recommend asking for him directly as the buck stops with him. I hope he works there for many years to come as if it wasn't for his customer service, I wouldn't have nice things to say right now! Thanks again Mark!
@PewLand

It's the spring on the back of the tail cap or the (-)contact. You could have just grabbed it with a pair of needle nose pliers and stretched it out slightly to fix the contact with the cr123. The issue is when you load a AA battery in the light it compresses the spring more than if you have a 123a in it so it compresses the spring. Pretty easy fix and I've never had it happen again after I stretched the spring out.
Would a 14500 work ?

Crazy how the new Protac 2L with 2x cr123’s only has 6800 candelas while the 1L-1AA has 6400 candelas with just a single cr123. I can’t believe I’m considering the 2L simply because it will stand on its end! Features man features.. I wonder how Streamlight might improve in this awesome light! 🤔

I carried this light for years but ultimately it started acting up and not working intermittently. This light is not serviceable from what I can see. You can't replace the LED with any parts available from streamlight. I'm thinking of giving another brand a try or something that is not disposable but I'm probably being overly demanding of its useful life. Case, clip, tailcap seem fine. I was early on this one got it when it released a 500 lumen version? I'd say 3 years and rotate out and throw in the spares drawer for the kids. With that said, nothing lasts forever and maybe it's the electronics.. no idea but this is a tank.. been in swimming pools, bath tubs. Always works when it works until one day (many years later) you scratch your head and something is off. Just get another one. This light set the bar very high for dependable. Perhaps I have been spoiled by it.
"can-DELL-a" not "CANdle-a". just sayin'
Your comments on how it’s programmable is false. You can do high/strobe/low, high only, or low/high.
