Disclaimer 1: In all fairness, the system will not work in a strong rain or under water, so please don't attempt that.
Disclaimer 2: We are showing an extreme example of broadcasting right next to a fountain. It's generally a good idea to seek a quieter spot, if possible.

Every time you speak you hear the fountain... then silence in the gaps... So the gate isn't eliminating the noise? Might a low-pass (and/or other frequency-based filter) take out the noise more effectively? The gate alone gives a sort of "pumping" feeling to the audio.

You are correct, and this is an extreme example. The gate does nothing when I speak -- it only removes the background when I don't speak. There are two ways to deal with that: 1) Degree of jump. SoapBox has a DRY/WET blend control, which allows you to add some of the residual noise back in, so that the jump is not so drastic. 2) Masking. If you add music, it will mask the background noise and overall sound will be smoother. Removing the noise of the fountain from under my voice requires significant audio processing, which can be done on the computer at a later time, but not during recording. So my advice is to adjust the gate better and I will demonstrate this in a later video. Thanks for the tip!
