Bruno Anthony thinks he has the perfect plot to rid himself of his hated father and when he meets tennis player Guy Haines on a train, he thinks he's found the partner he needs to pull it off. His plan is relatively simple. Two strangers each agree to kill someone the other person wants disposed of. For example, Guy could kill his father and he could get rid of Guy's wife Miriam, freeing him to marry Anne Morton, the beautiful daughter of a U.S. Senator. Guy dismisses it all out of hand but but Bruno goes ahead with his half of the 'bargain' and disposes of Miriam. When Guy balks, Bruno makes it quite clear that he will plant evidence to implicate Guy in her murder if he doesn't get rid of his father. Guy had also made some unfortunate statements about Miriam after she had refused him a divorce. It all leads the police to believe Guy is responsible for the murder, forcing him to deal with Bruno's mad ravings.

It's very strange to see such a modern cut trailer of a classic movie.

Nice editing. A suggestion though- don't summarize the entire movie when making a trailer- it gives a lot away. Just show enough for the audience to get a sense of the plot and to build anticipation in their minds so that they feel eager to see the movie. In other words, a trailer ought to be an entry point, not a summary.

Who loves Classic movies in black and white in 2024 😅
The sad odyssey of Robert Walker who died August 28, 1951 before completing "My Son John" still resonates today. He was just 32 and I'm sure had he lived, the 1950s & 60s would have given plenty of roles if he could have gotten his alcoholism under control.

@@mknels1299 That's for sure. Sadly that was still at the time that movie studios exerted a lot of control over their players (one reason why by then many went freelance) & if it got out that Walker was going to AA that might make the studio look bad.

Stop complaining about how this is not an official trailer, it's one damn good tribute to a damn good movie.
Am I the only one here that just saw the movie on the guide, and recorded it, and watched it, and enjoyed it?
Best director of all time.
thumbs up if you saw this movie for the first time in 2015! good acting, good movie!!
This is fascinating. Sort of like quicksand. Guy could have saved himself if he was honest right from the start. But as he delayed, the quicksand was slowly taking him down. So if your involved in anything bad, fess up right away cause it will only get worse. If I was a Grade 9 teacher, I would have my class watch this and write an essay on what they would have done.
Wow, I thought this was an official trailer and was very confused when hearing the Saw theme song 🤣! It fit perfectly though and this was amazing

Hitchcock movies are all great. I can't decide among them. Dial M for Murder is a favorite. Even the old black and white films. He uses the color Green alot, it's interesting.
For anyone wondering, The song here is "Hello Zepp + Overture (Saw Theme)"
binging all the hitchcock movies I’m 16 and I love this directors thinking and the details and plots in his works never fails to disappoint
love this film 👌
Such a fantastic movie really!
Whoever did this Trailer did a fantastic Job. Could you do one on The Talented Mr. Ripley or Carol which were based on Patricia Highsmith's Books.
Farley Granger and Robert Walker...the world missed out on their full potential. They should have both had longer film careers and been in more major films. One tragically died young and the other's career faltered so he went back to theatre and faded into obscurity.

I don't know who put this trailer together, but they did an excellent job. It would appear that the narrative of this movie is very foreseen, only ahead of its time. The storyline is an original concept that has been modeled after in various ways. I can't wait to see this.

Just saw this movie and loved it. In 2015 it was in the works for Ben Affleck to star in a remake but scheduling conflict. Sad to learn Robert Walker died so young. Great talent. I thought I would be bored watching a black and white movie but wasn’t at all.
They did a low-budget remake of this called Strangers on a Bus. Didn't go over.

Throw Mama from the Train is the best comedic remake of Strangers on a Train.
0:55 Miriam later went on to play Larry Tate's wife in Bewitched.
No way they used freaking Hello Zepp from the Saw movies as background music
The prequel to Snakes on a Plane. Bill Murray is in fine form in this movie.
You should spoiler alert in the description. Honestly you gave most of the movie away.

Saw meets Hitchcock. I like it. :)

Cross-tracked maybe?
Strangers on a Train (1951) Hitchcock never fails to surprise you and such a visionary man that makes you how revolutionary he was for the film industry. Arguably one of the pioneering "suspense thriller" maker of all-time. Guy Haines, a tennis player and a man soon to be wed to the Senator's daughter, if he can get a divorce from his current wife. One day, on the way to see his wife, he meets the mentally unstable Bruno Anthony aboard a train and soon gets drawn into a murder plot that he can neither stop nor stall; and one that could ultimately cost him his life.
Because of Mthunzi Mayiza and Thembeka Shezi from Scandal

i love how this trailer just uses the Saw theme for some reason lmfao
The book Eight Perfect murders brought me here.

+Igor Sena Pereira Brilliant! Bone Chilling! This was written by Patricia Highsmith in 1950 who is the same Lady who wrote The Talented Mr. Ripley in 1952, then The Lesbian Classic The Price Of Salt aka Carol in 1953 but she wrote it under the name of Claire Morgan. I saw this on PBS one afternoon. Patricia Rooney who played Therese Belivet in Carol said it best when she said that while most of Patricia Highsmith's Books are of the Criminal Mind, Carol was about The Amorous Mind.

Watching this at the theatre.
In those days divorce used to shock folks, so I'm surprised the senator was allowing his daughter to be with this married man, even before she was murdered. This would have looked bad on his life and family, for the media to report his daughter was going out with a man who was married to someone else. This would have been scandal, in itself. This does not show up in the film. I suppose he had to be married, for someone to murder.
is that the Saw soundtrack song???

I thought there was going to be a remake starring ben affleck?
From what I read , Raymond Chandler (In one of his letters.) did NOT like this movie or what Hitchcock did with it! So I’m a bit hesitant to to see it (Chandler wrote the screenplay.). Is that the music from SAW at the 1:45 mark?

This is NOT official! It is a counterfeit "fan" trailer and to label it as you have is misleading and a waste of time to viewers not to mention piracy issues.
