I used to consider Lucas and Max, sorta dry. I thought the idea of them was kinda cute but I just didn’t see their chemistry like how we saw Nancy and Johnathan’s or Mike and El’s, I really like how this season gave Max a bigger role and had Lucas be her main supporting character. It worked very well, and it’s probably one of my favorites in the show.

Honestly didn't care that much for Max one way or the other until this season. The buildup to this rather dramatic climax in episode 4 shot her full of character development so fast that this scene made me tear up.

S4e4 was a true masterpiece. I was stunned in the end and I even didn’t get how the time passes. Then this beautifully composed piece of art came in. I never watched the credits but it was truly mesmerizing and and i hit the watch the credits button. This episode literally touched my soul with all the songs and that.

Yes, yes, yes!!! Mine, too! Of all the characters in ST, I relate to Max the absolute most. I’ve been a pro at video games since I was a kid (I was even a sponsored player for Gears of War in my early 20s) and I’m a TOTAL Zoomer (I drive a 2SS Camaro and I learned about fast cars from my older brother)! And just like Billy, my brother beat me every single day, called me fat, said I was disgusting and stupid…and I grew up believing it. I still struggle with self confidence as an adult and I have to literally fight my own mind to have it. After my dad died when I was 7, my mom and brother were two peas in a pod and my person was gone (I was a daddy’s girl). And it’s not my brother’s fault he turned out that way-our dad beat him and was awful to him and my mom, yet he treated me like a princess for some reason. So when our dad died, they took revenge out on me and made sure I knew what it was like. I became the outcast in the family and I’ve always found family in my friends opposed to my own blood. I still do to this day and I’m going to be 37 next month. I have a cordial relationship with my brother now as adults-we even became great friends at one point like Max wanted with Billy. There are things only him and I can relate to and we are forever linked, not just as brother and sister, but because of what we lived through as kids. He’s married with kids for a long time now and forgot all about me but I still yearn for the love from my big brother, just the way Max always will. The rare times we do talk, its so apparent that we are connected. Our favorite band is Tool and out of the blue I’ll text him saying “listening to Tool” and he’ll reply immediately saying “yup, we’re on the same brain wave again”. There’s just something so undeniable about our connection, despite being hundreds of miles apart and not even in each other’s lives anymore. Anyway, I was the pale skater/rocker outcast like Max is, too. I cried so hard on this scene! She’s such a fighter! And I can’t help but think about the Sleep Paralysis I’ve had since I was 10 years old every time we see Vecna. That’s gonna be the name of my Shadow Man from now on. I have to fight like hell every single time I’m trapped in SP, just like Max had to fight to get away from Vecna. And it’s SO EERIE how similar Vecna takes his victims to the way my Shadow Man kylls me in my nightmares. I love the way they illustrate how strong the mind is when it comes to anything and everything. If your mind believes it’s real, then it’s real. That goes for depression, hallucinations, confidence, happiness… absolutely EVERYTHING. Just watching the end of that episode has me super emotional! I HAD TO find this song! The way it carries you on into the credits after the episode ends is SO perfect because you’re still emotional after the Max/Vecna scene. Absolute perfection!! I thought this season was gonna be slow after the first episode but it’s proving to be everything we expect from ST. Tears are still falling! What a cathartic scene for me… wow! I only WISH I was as strong as Max! She’s a TOTAL badass!!

Subbing out the 80s Synthesiser for the orchestral violins and choir is just *chef kiss*

Thank you for posting this song!! This scene was SO cathartic for me. I am so insanely similar to Max and my brother was exactly like Billy. He bullied me and beat me up ever since our dad died when I was 7 and he was 10. He hated having to drive me to school, he hated me being around, he called me fat and disgusting, etc. And he was that way because of how awful our dad was to him. Vecna is even EXACTLY like my Sleep Paralysis demon who I’ve always called “My Shadow Man” but will forever be called “Vecna” from now on! I cried so hard at the end of episode 4!! “Dear Billy” will forever hold a place in my heart and this song carried me away into that catharsis. I’m just completely STUNNED and I can’t stop listening to it! Thank you!

This scene w 1 of the peaks of the series. Which I think the whole show is about trauma. Such a beautiful & intense scene that Max isn’t alone.

I like Kate bush and David gilmore from pink floyds version more but this ain’t bad either and lyrics is just so fitting in max’s situation

It would have made the scene 10 times better if max looked over her shoulder and saw Billy running next to her as she was escaping

She didn't run for neither with Billy. She did that for herself... the whole point of the scene is to show how she found the power to fight for her life and this power had nothing to do with Billy. Actually, Billy kind of represent the guilt she had, so...he running with her would be a big problem.

It would have worked as her letting go of the guilt as she was running out of the other dimension she's letting go of that guilt while running back to Steve and Lucas so it would have worked 100% just a little fantasy I had
