Stow 'N Go Seat Not Working - 2016 Chrysler Town and Country Seat Cable Replacement FULL STEPS

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In todays video I diagnose the issues with my moms 2016 Chrysler Town and Country. A few weeks back she mentioned that the middle driver seat would not collapse into the floor. After a little research the common failures seems to be the cable either stretch's, slips, or completely breaks like in my case. Take special note to Zip-Ties when installing as failure to put a Zip-Tie near end of cable will cause it to fail and pop off. I clarify this in the video!
I was able to fix this in about 30-45 minutes using very simple hand tools besides the T-20 Torx bit. That is likely the only tool that not everyone has on hand. You will surely need this to complete the job so pick it up on amazon ahead of time. I have a LEXIVON Torx kit and its been great. I chose not to edit out much content in this so that people not very technical could still follow along. Don't mind me constantly sticking out my tongue all the time its something I have done since I was little and I can't seem to break the habit. Hope this video helps!
Part Number for Driver side Captain chair : MOPAR 68143771AB
Purchase link (Driver and passenger are likely differently): www.amazon.com/dp/B01EKNRZX2/...
NOTE : I used more Zip-Ties than what they provided be sure to have at least a few on hand!
Tools Used :
Wire Snips (for cutting zip ties)
Flat head and Phillips head screw driver
Needle Nose Pliers
T-20 Torx Bit : www.amazon.com/dp/B07M9ZF35W/...

We took our T&C into our Chrysler dealer for a recall job. Asked him to look at our second row seat that didn’t fold. They quoted $975 to fix it! Are you kidding me? I have a mechanical background and after watching your video I know I can DIY this. Thanks for the video!

I just wanted to let you know that your video was SUPER helpful while working on my 2013 Chrysler van seats! I managed to fix both my 2nd row seats by replacing both cables in each seat in just under 3 hours. I've never replaced any parts like this but I will say the 2nd seat went faster than the 1st. I will definitely recommend this video to anyone that has the same problem. Thank you!

Hello Nicole! Thank you for the time you took to leave a comment that it helped. I am happy to hear you handled this by yourself with the help of the video and your own personal skills. As with any car job I can tell you the second one is always WAY faster than the first :) Hopefully you don't have to do it again for a while or ever!

What a great and informative video, no steps were missed. My son and I did the repair this afternoon on his 2017 Dodge Caravan. He was quoted $500 a couple years ago by the local Dodge dealer. We had assumed it would be something the dealer would have to do, so we put it off (as his budget has been pretty tight) - until we recently watched your video. I ordered the 2 cables from Amazon last week and they arrived today. It took us about an hour all said and done. Again, thank you for the video, truly appreciated.

Thanks for the comment it means alot to know it was helpful ! That sounds ridiculous for the price from the dealer . Knowing the manufacture made an inferior cable that breaks then charges that much . Glad you got yours sorted out :)

Very thorough video! While attempting the repair, found the the release cable at the back and underneath of the 2nd row seats had separated from it's bracket. Inserting the cable into the bracket solved the release problem. You can see the bracket where the wire connects just above the bar at 1:57. (At the very top and just right of middle)

Hello there! I find it best to take the vin and go to a mopar parts site to find the right parts. I have the part number for the van I worked on (2016 town and country) in the description. Its best to confirm yours is the same. You likely can find an online parts seller of them that will ship to Mexico or atleast I hope they can. Or you can get the part at a dealer there if there are any. My number was MOPAR 68143771AB for this specific seat. Again please verify with your vin . This was a direct Mopar/Dealer part that I was able to get on amazon. www.amazon.com/MOPAR-68143771AB-Cable-Seat-Riser/dp/B01EKNRZX2/ref=asc_df_B01EKNRZX2/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=647104192557&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9707589406868543465&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9052026&hvtargid=pla-1947376806460&psc=1&mcid=a33f7b2b222c381b97be9a1ee806610a

Hey there! I haven't had to try to fix that just yet. My guess would be theres another cable involved. If you look up a seat diagram you may be able to trace it down. Who knows maybe that will be the next issue for me and ill post a video. I just bought a 2022 pacifica so im sure ill be paving the way for issues on it :)

Hey Dimelo, Sorry for delayed response. I would say like I did you need to take the seat cover off and look at the latches and springs. It sounds like a spring is not engaging on the bottom that latches it. You may be able to see this visually just from looking under the seat or pop it up like you were going to stow it. My guess is a spring is broken OR a cable that pulls the spring snapped and seized.

Be sure to confirm the part I used is the one that fits yours . Amazon did show one in stock . If needed you can call a local dodge dealer give them your vin and ask for the part number or simply order it through them . Cheapest option is getting the part number and checking Amazon or eBay or a reseller if mopar Parts. www.ebay.com/itm/164850513480?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=At4IlOBgQj6&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=iTh60GbSTG2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
