I dropped a spoon once as a waiter. The owner was sitting at the bar and told me to come. He whispered in my air: "The next time you drop any spoons, I will body slam you." .... the funny thing was he looked so non-threatening, like Aziz Ansari

First job ever was at IHOP, I was a teenager who didn’t know anything about anything. Somehow my manager convinced me to take the paper kid menus home with me to fold them in a certain way with crayons “while you watch TV! That way you don’t have to do it during your shift.” My dad saw me doing that at home and gave me a stern talking to about NEVER working off the clock!! Some people will just take advantage of teens smh

Can someone tell me if it's normal to have to learn menu item recipes on your own, off the clock? Without getting into too much detail, I applied for a place that makes drinks and they expected me to learn the recipes on my own time. I ended up turning it down because it was a big time commitment (1-2 months training was the norm, plus they wouldn't officially pay me during that time (they would pay under the table).

One of my first ‘interviews’ working at a restaurant turned into a full 8 hours shift behind the bar on a Saturday night. They obviously didn’t pay me, and I didn’t even get the tips that I MADE! I was too young and shy to say anything, but now I would DESTROY them.

Stunning Kelly! I love this story I quit my job as a Nurse practitioner last two years after almost 10 years in the field. It was not an easy decision, but life is too short to dread going to work everyday. No amount of money can buy real happiness friends 😁 I'm not asking you to resign from your job or abandon your business but be wise!

I guess I wouldn’t have gotten the job then because I wasn’t starting immediately and if I did start and was left alone without a trainer, I’d walk out immediately. That’s exactly why they are always hiring because they have a high turn over. Congrats for getting creative and sticking it through for a whole hour

it's a great ad but it is unfortunately a scam company so I'd advise against anyone purchasing from them 💔. You can only become a lord by applying to the Scottish registry for land ownership. Their company isn't even registered in the UK. If u search up 'Established Titles scam' there are a bunch of videos explaining their shady business in more depth. It's a fun gimmick but not anything worth spending money on.
“I didn’t want everyone to get comfortable there seeing me.” Sameeeee, same. lol
Never accept jobs when they don’t take the interviews seriously comments like “Okay when can you start” sounds good and fulfilling but you’re going to have a bad time working there I experienced this twice and those two jobs were the worst jobs I ever had in my life, getting insulted. My friends and I getting cussed out by managers and working overtime with no pay, we were 15 back then so automatically scared to talk back 🤷🏾♂️

I love this story, Kelly! 😂 My worst job story? OMG there are so many, but probably my worst one would be in my early 20s when I worked at a very popular pub that had a complete a-hole for a manager who was a sexist and a bully. A close girlfriend had helped me get the job, as it was a popular place to work and not easy to get an interview. The manager pulled such a power trip on me one day that I had to go to the bathroom and cry. Then I looked in the mirror and said, “I’m going to quit. right now, at the busiest time of the day. I will walk up to him, get in his face and say I quit, and then walk out and leave him here to deal with it all by himself and he knows nothing about serving!“ And so I did that. But when I arrived home I remembered that he was not the only person that had to deal with my storming out; there was one other server on duty, my girlfriend, who had helped me get that job. Of course what happened was she got the brunt of my reaction. (Also lots of tips, so that part was good for her). I feel badly about that to this day.

I interviewed on the phone for this sushi job, got hired on the spot, but I didn’t even make it in the front door for my first day. The days leading up to my first day, I felt iffy about the whole thing and was like God… at any sign of trouble and I’m taking it as a sign to walk away. On my first day, my new manager hits me up and says they’re not open that day bc of electrical issues. I was like, “Welp! there’s my sign 🤷🏽♀️ ”. I quit officially the next day 😬

What an abrupt ending to your story haha. My first job was working in a drugstore after school. I was 1 of 3 guys and the rest were all women. It did pay €1 per hour more than working in a supermarket. And my weirdest situation was that a couple came in, asking me where they could find something that sounded like toothpaste. And when I send them to the toothpaste isle, they got back upset because they were referring to lubricants. That was kind of an awkward situation.
Needed this lesson in being to nice saying sorry and dealing with people Kelly I Love you and If I ever see you out in little Italy I owe you a glass of champagne for this celebratory lesson 🎉!!!!
