It's the same concept as using a calendar to keep all our meetings straight. We usually don't remember every appointment we have coming up, but we know exactly where to go to find that information each day.
This location learning technique for individuals living with dementia- coined "spaced retrieval"- was first studied by Dr. Cameron Camp.
