Storming the Stage: Shaun Evans and Nancy Carroll with Audience Reactions to Manor

Ойын-сауық

'It’s so rare to be part of a much larger company and what you get is incredibly exciting.' Nancy Carroll and Shaun Evans reflect on staging the world of Manor for audiences: www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/sh...
As a violent storm sweeps the coast, Diana (Nancy Carroll) struggles to keep the roof on her run-down manor house. When a group of strangers arrive in search of shelter, she meets Ted (Shaun Evans), the charismatic leader of a far-right organisation. Could he be Diana’s saviour, or pull the fragile household to pieces?
Manor by Moira Buffini (The Dig, Handbagged) plays in the Lyttelton theatre from 16 November 2021 - 1 January 2022.

I really wanted to go to London for a few days and see this play, but I I didn’t. I’m in Scandinavia. It looks amazing and I love Shaun Evans

I saw it yesterday… every box ticked… lesbian kisses, climate change squeezed in, racism, far right are nasty… NHS are heroes… Glad I didn’t pay £60 for the ticket… my friend got complimentary tickets. I only wanted to see it because of Shaun Evans… I felt he was wasted in it…

So let me get this straight… you’re a homophobic, NHS hating, climate change denying, far right racist?

Typical moral high ground leftie. I am none of those things. Far right and far eft are as bad as each other. If you like a play with hackneyed clichés then go and see it... It could have been do much better if the writer had original ideas...

Is this video a desperate attempt by the National Theatre to find an audience after the production received the worst reviews in memory - across the board?

But nly ever gets seen in london. The provinces get absolutly NOTHING. So unfair for future theatre goers. Branch out. Take a chance on other places.

I was really disappointed it has so many clichés which are supposed to represent didn't parts of society and their ideology but it just treats those topics an extreme way that it becomes like a 60s soap opera. It's very poor.

Actors are so pretentious. Just learn the lines and don't bump into the furniture. Oh, I read about this play, every critic who saw it said it was awful.

If that’s all you think acting is, I worry for your stage career…

@@ce67790 I'm 76 years old my very successful stage career is over. I know all about acting having worked with the acting alumni of this country and my 'don't bump into the furniture' quote came from one of them.
