As britain got battered by Storm Ciara and several G0-arounds at BHX this A-380 showed how its done!!! good practice as Storm Dennis will be next!!!

Wow! ...and I don't say that lighty. That was a terrific overhead pan after take-off. It's a difficult shot to get (I've tried), but you nailed it. I'm sure this'd look good even on a phone but I'm watching through a projector, with headphones, and I feel like I'm standing under that thing! Thanks for the experience. (also, I'm a little stoned so, y'know, take that into account.)

Very professional pilots. I think heavy planes are more stable in bad weather conditions than the smaller ones. Just a point of view.

  • @RealDukeOfEarl

It's true. Very small aircraft can't fly in that. It's a momentum versus surface area thing. A nice heavy 380 takes a lot more to push it around, however the swinging movement of the tail or nose has a larger rotational effect around the central axis because of the length. That big tail fin side on to a 40 mph gust of wind.

Nice one. Always come to your channel to see BHX storms. Yesterday I and my fiancé went to the multi-storey car park spot to watch for a couple of hours. Got there with 10 mins to spare before the A380 landed. Went not long after the Qatar 787 came in. We did wonder what happened to EnterAir ENT61UN after it’s go-around. Maybe went to Stanstead?

  • @andrewsmith951

    4 жыл бұрын

@@marknovak9310 Aircraft have specified crosswind limits that pilots will adhere to, but similarly, are expected to attempt to make an approach and landing (and take-off) if the reported wind at the airport isn't exceeding that limit, and there are no recent reports of windshear. Potentially, there would have been 450+ passengers that would need to be transported to the original destination if the aircraft diverted - an inconvenience to the airline and passengers and a great cost. Imagine if you were one of those passengers?

Andrew Smith agreed and bear in mind that day 2 EK were diverted from MAN and LGW to FRA which left circa 1,000 people to get back not an easy task after plus as Andrew said significant cost and reputation!
