    The good decisions are the ones that go around and try again, if you don't like it get out of there and do it again. Hats off to all the pilots that try to land and take of in those conditions.

  • @brkr78

    @brkr78

    Sure, and ofc it's the pilots call to proceed with the landing or abandon it, but imagine being afraid to fly, having to land in these conditions, seeing the runway through your window IN FRONT OF YOU and then: 4:30 . You thank whatever supernatural entity you believe in for having made it alive, are relieved that the plane is on the ground, and then: NOPE, TO/GA and the same again. That's just plain cruel.

  • @BoB4jjjjs

    @BoB4jjjjs

    @@brkr78 Yeah, maybe, but it is better to have to do it again and survive when the pilot makes the right call to go around. There is no shame in it and your passengers and aircraft are still in one piece and not scattered all over the ground. I dare say a lot of the people on these aircraft were not very happy or even scared, but I would rather do it again and survive it, even though I was scared shitless! Yeah, I feel for those that are scared to fly, but if they were on one of those aircraft and they landed safely it might help them, or put them totally the other way and never fly again. I don't think I would like to be on one, but I am the type that would probably go.

So I can fully agree with you, probably the other five ppl who perished at that time would, as well. Better Safe than sorry is more precious to me than higher chance of death, so Im partial to that.

    This is typical of U.K. runways constructed during WW2 then extended for the first jet era and extended again for the wide body era. Ideal they should be flat ( but with very subtle slopes for drainage) (Eg Dublin new runway under construction in 2020) but the international regulations also allow for slopes up to a maximum gradient and also a maximum rate -of -change of gradient. The tight photo angle also exaggerates any slopes.

    Christ isn't just a throwaway name to use without thought. Consider Calvary and all He suffered. Then take on board His resurrection and the empty tomb He left behind. History is His story. What will history make of you and I? More to the point, when this short life is over, the only thing that will matter is how we responded to the One who overcame death. Something to consider, that is! As Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me." That really IS something for the thoughtful person to think over...

    Yes but even the most experienced pilot couldn’t made a good landing, yes they do landed, maybe bc “external pressure” bc for all the airlines ppl are just $€£ so they MUST landed🤬 Imagine how those passengers felt inside that big and heavy plane going unstable to the right-left feeling the pilot trying to get control just in the most dangerous part of a flight. Happy that this ended fine B”H

    Just a note. Landings on days like that are all hand flown. No autopilot can do what they were doing.

  • @uchee211

    @uchee211

    Nonsense. No computer can land you in crosswinds like this if you don't have the skills. Autopilot will be completely off for the pilot to make the landing successfully. This is why most airlines require the pilots to always land manually to keep their skills for times like this!

    These landings are incredible, including the one with a touch-and-go taking a decision in mere seconds for security sake, at a time where everyone's talking about autopilot, auto landing and so on, this is exactly the situation where you want great pilots on the cockpit!

    Outstanding flight skills & decisions by pilots on go arounds when needed/called for, i started my career majoring in aviation in 1982, pilots will know what i am speaking of, but for those who are not pilots, in these conditions, imagine trying to control a hand made paper airplane thrown at a ceiling fan switched on high, very similar, great video
